cutco knives. seems now that i am "older" my mom is now getting us knives every year. kind of a cool idea, because these are expensive knives. she will essentially build our collection every year. something to remind me of her too.

What you get for Christmas

I got woken up at 5:30 in the morning by my 7 year old telling me that Santa was there and left them lots of gifts. She snuggled in bed with me until her sister woke up around 7 a.m. As they opened their stockings they realized there was a note on their candy canes. They had to treasure hunt for their gifts. If they figured out the riddle, they found their next gift from Santa. They loved it.

My gifts? I got to spend Christmas with my girls. Nothing material compares to that.

I bought myself a used 5HP gas engine for $100.00 and yesterday and today I used it to build an emergency generator using a car alternator and power inverter. This link explains how it works http://theepicenter.com/tow082099.html

I have a large generator already but it is always such a hassle to start and makes so much noise running. This thing I made is quiet, easy to start and can run everything I need from the refrigerator, fans, TV's, games, lights and so on while idling like a lawnmower... I bought a side shaft overhead cam engine that is easy to work with. Now I wait for the next hurricane to sell my old generator at near its original price without a loss and will invest that money in a windmill for alternative energy for the house. Now, without hesitation I can have electricity to keep all happy without the hassle... and, here we have regular power outages so it will come in handy... also will double as a battery charger if for some reason the cars won't crank.

My two sons cashed in with all the games on their list and the wife, well I got her car running and a lifetime spa membership with all the necessary lotions to be applied in the comfort of our home by her favorite slow hand... me.

In my family, the emphasis is more on family togetherness than present exchange. Every member of our extended family gives and receives one gift. I got a nice roaster.
My friend Sharon, who lives in Australia, always sends me gag gifts. This year, it was a shirt that had figures that depicted English cricket, rugby and soccer players laying on the ground and the inscription "2007 Poms suck it again".
Definitely will NOT be worn on my next trip to Blighty. :lmao:

It's a family joke that I'm carrying on with my kids. It started with my great grandma Florio that ate them so she wouldn't have to pop in her dentures. we would place 10 - 15 of them in her stocking. :laugh2:

So did either of you win anything with the lotto tickets.

I was thinking of giving my dad scratch off lottery tickets this year as a gag gift. I was going to wrap them up after I had scratched off the silver stuff to see if he, er I had won and tell him that I was sorry he didn't win.

I usually put $5.00 worth of scratch offs in each persons stocking along with their other crap.. If they win, cool.. If not, they had fun for a minute..
