I do not understand this "fashion" trend, can anybody explain the desire to wear pants like this?

Normally they don't sag quite that much but as for the trend. I think it's hot, better than the older style of mens jeans.

What style is that?

I wasn't much for tighter jeans, even when they were in style. Of course, I wore them, but on a man....ew. I hate a tucked shirt too. In my opinion, very few men can pull that off.

I can't splain it, but I have this overwhelming urge to jerk em down to their ankles from behind. I'm gonna do that someday.

Of all the trends that teens pick up, the pants down has to be the most asinine.

I had heard the style came from prison where the pants are one size fits all.

It looks stupid IMO, but it has come in handy at least once. A suspect was running from police and his pants tripped him up. :laugh2:

Exactly--prison fashion.

From the "Rules for dating a Marine's daughter" catalog...

Rule Three:
I am aware that it is considered fashionable for boys of your age to wear their trousers so loosely that they appear to be falling off their hips. Please don't take this as an insult, but you and all of your friends are complete idiots. Still, I want to be fair and open minded about this issue, so I propose this compromise: You may come to the door with your underwear showing and your pants ten sizes too big, and I will not object. However, in order to ensure that your clothes do not, in fact, come off during the course of your date with my daughter, I will take my electric nail gun and fasten your trousers securely in place to your waist.

Most probably have no idea wtf they are trying to emulate. I think we have the media and black "culture" to thank for this one.

I think the idea is, to just look as absolutely STUPID as possible. If it's pants hanging off your ass four sizes too big, or clothes on backwards, or hat on crocked and pulled down so far your ears stick out with the brim bent up, no shoe strings, whatever... that's supposed to be "cool." Well, it might be to another empty headed pea brain teenager. To everyone else, they couldn't look more DUMB if they tried.... and they are.

Kids who wear their pants like that ought to be pimp-slapped.

The reason behind the "saggy pants" trend (at least among L.A. gangstas and gangsta-wannabes) is so ridiculous, you are going to think I am making it up.
It's like throwing a gang sign. You disrespected a rival gang by wearing your pants down low, sort of a "kiss my ass" thing. Of course, it caught on with others. Sort of like Oakland Raiders gear, skin caps and various colors.

Of course, the gangs have now moved on to other forms of dissing. I am waiting to see which will turn into the next fashion/behavior trend.

That might be it now but that's now how it started----in prison belts cannot be worn--too dangerous.

my brother wore his pants like that. I got sick of telling him that if I wanted to see his underwear, I would start doing his laundry. So every time he wore his pants like that, I would go and de-pants him. Didn't take much and he couldn't chase after me because his pants would trip him. After a while, he only wore his pants like that if I wasn't around.

It appears as though a family of 6 has spent the night in jail for baggy pants up in West Palm Beach county, FL.
