I'm sure a lot of you guys have a memory or 2 of this great plane, the C-141 Starlifter........ here is a video about the last 2 flights of the last C-141 to retire..... it is a very special one.

I remember them landing and taking off over my brothers and I as we played golf at Norton Air Force Base. The 13th green was so close to the runway that there was a strobe light right off of the fringe. These giant aircraft would fly over us at maybe 50 feet right before flaring to touch down a few hundred yards away.

If you have never been to the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio....... go, if you love aircraft. One of the finest places I have ever been.

How about that. I remember the C-141 from before they started altering them into what we called a "stretch." They lengthened them all. I've riden in quite a few of those myself on mobilitize around the world with the 474 Tactical Fighter Wing. Great plane. Comfortable and quite compared to the noisey C-130. Too bad to see them taken out of service. Makes me feel old.

Hey P,
I bet more than a few egg beaters hitched a ride in the hull of those 141s.

I'm sure many did, I never did though...I love that Jet! All I ever loaded on was a C-5.
