I love Pat... great books with very true points a lot of the time.

And this is spot-on for how I fear McCain will be tempted to run...

"The jobs are never coming back, the illegals are never going home, but we're going to have a lot more wars."

I on the other hand find myself in the position of having thought Pat a fine writer and very interesting person, until he ran for President and lost. That's when I learned he could be quite nasty and in fact it wasn't funny or an act.

Why that's enough to almost tempt me to like McCain, but not quite. ;)

Bottom line, I think McCain is temperamentally unsuited for the presidency, which is what you are afraid of. He has a horrendous temper, which he loses with regularity. I disliked Reagan, but never once for all the 'tear down this wall' did he threaten a foreign country. He treated all like guests, he just kept arguing and cajoling about doing the right things. McCain hasn't a problem screaming in someone's face, "Fuck you!"

Indeed. He's proven that time & time again on TV over the years. A shame, a smart mind and acerbic wit could take him further, for all our benefits, if he did not have that nasty streak.

I worry about McCain. I respect him, but I worry. I wish Romney had run a far different campaign and been honest.

I wish Jeb Bush had been president for 8 years too but hey, we can't win them all.

Hmm, I see McCain easily beating Hillary but a matchup with Obama will be very rough. I do think it would be an almost honorable match-up though, with some real exchange of viewpoints for the American people to weigh and decide.

That is, unless both give in to their ego-massaging advisers. Then its just WW3.

Romney has been honest. But unfortunately the american people dont want honesty. They want nastiness and vileness.

McCain cannot win against either because conservatives will not vote for him.
