Sometimes you can't help but want to scream or cry at the evil of some in this world.

Now I really just want to pray for these poor women and the victims that suffered along with them for Al-Qaeda's plot.

BAGHDAD - Remote-controlled explosives strapped to two mentally handicapped women detonated in a coordinated attack on pet bazaars Friday, police and Iraqi officials said, killing at least 73 people in the deadliest day since the U.S. sent 30,000 extra troops to the capital this spring.

Why are you surprised at this? One of the primary teachings of those who believe in afterlife is that everyone is perfect in heaven. You may be crippled and retarded on earth, but you will be reborn in perfect shape in heaven.

Are you defending them??

Do you believe these women knew what they were doing??

So what? These terrorists were doing these women a favor?

Interesting that AQ is starting to have trouble finding people of even average intelligence who want to blow themselves up for God. That should tell them something... :poke:

Not defending them at all. Just saying that it was probably fairly easily for terrorists to talk these people into becoming suicide bombers. Those who believe in the principle are easy to convince.
The Japanese did the same thing with kamikaze pilots.

It's easy to talk the mentally disabled into anything, That's the sad point.

Wait, wait, wait...

You say, "...it was probably fairly easily for terrorists to talk these people into becoming suicide bombers. Those who believe in the principle are easy to convince." This statement implies that the women in question understood what it was they were doing, that they believed in the "cause." Now, while we don't know the full extent of their handicap, the simple fact that they were mentally handicapped raises the question of whether or not they had any comprehension of what it was they were doing. You can convince the mentally handicapped into doing just about anything.

As for your comparison to the Kamikzae pilots of WWII, the big difference there is, the pilots made a conscious decision, fully aware of what it was they were doing. You'll forgive me if I have doubts about the devotion these two women had for the "jihad" or their awareness of what it was they were doing.

I have no doubt of the devotion of these women to their religious convictions. A couple of years ago, a 12-year-old boy blew himself up in a similar situation. His mother stated that it was his desire to become a martyr like his father was.
The women were obviously unhappy with their early life and made the decision to become martyrs. They would be transformed from scorned and marginalized handicapped second-class citizens to healthy martyrs who would enjoy the Kingdom of Heaven.
