N.H. Landlord Says Clinton Campaign Stiffed Him $500, Trashed Building

After five days of renting to a group of Hillary Clinton campaign workers, all one Rochester, N.H., landlord got was an unpaid bill for $500 and a five-Advil headache.

Terry Bennett, a physician by trade, owns the building in question, which was rented to the campaign workers while they were counting down to the Jan. 8 New Hampshire primary, which Clinton won.

Bennett tells the Portsmouth (N.H.) Herald that he thought the small-potatoes rent charge would be taken care of the day they left. Not to mention, they might have cleaned up a little better.

“It’s a very nice little building, with an 1,800-foot warehouse and the rest can be offices,” Bennett told the Herald. “There’s a full kitchen and bath. They used it as a campaign center and dormitory. I expected them to hand the Realtor a check as they left. They did not.”

Not only that, but: “They left enough trash for a small army. … We filled two of those big black trash bags with what they left. There might still be a 4×8 Hillary sign there we pulled off the fence.”

The Herald reports that neither the staffer who originally rented the space nor the Clinton campaign returned phone calls seeking comment. It also reports that the realtor working for Bennett bill hasn’t been contacted about any of his 20 or so e-mails in the month since the building was vacated.
