Oh dear.........gag me........Our county is DOOMED..:cheers2:
BY SHANNON REED
All over the country on Tuesday, women began weeping at the polls. I know. I was one of them.
At 6:15, the very first voter in my precinct, I teared up behind the thick plastic curtains.
Throughout the day, I heard from my women friends and co-workers a story similar to what I had already experienced: We took 15 minutes out of a busy day to stand in line at our polling places, our minds elsewhere – on the job, on the kids, on the budget, on the dry cleaning – until it was time to slip into the booth and start clicking off names.
Looking at the choices, we began, by rote, to reach up toward the candidate we liked the most, or respected most deeply, or felt was the most competent, or had settled on as the lesser of two evils.
And then, our hands stretched out, we froze. We realized, in a moment of quiet joy – we could vote for a woman.
Someone like us. A woman as equally derided as loved, yes. A woman full of flaws and virtues, yes. A woman who, like so many of her generation, seems to have worked harder than any man to arrive where she is.
A woman who, as we would see in the news later, made a questionable wardrobe choice that day. A woman who probably longed to talk to her husband and daughter as she spent the day with strangers.

answer the question....
you say we are doomed.....is that because you think most women in this country are stupid enough to vote for Clinton just because she is a woman......

I can't believe in this day and age being a woman or black should have ANYTHING to do with it. So what? Why can't people just vote for the candidate they have the most confidence in?

As a female, this made me GAG. The author of that commentary is one of the few women on earth who deserves to wear a burka and walk five steps behind her husband.
Just shut up. Please.

So who is this woman she is talking about? I was unaware that such a woman was actually running. I know of a woman who is not loved by anyone, a woman who has flaws but no virtues, and a woman who has been riding her husband's coattails all of her life and hasnt accomplished on thing on her own. I know that woman is running. but i dont know about any woman like this person describes.

Well, the article did start out with the sentence "All over the country... women began weeping at the polls..." [emphasis added]. It sounds fairly widespread. :)

what partisan bunk! :laugh2:
i am no hillary mesmerized fan, but to be clear....her husband would have NEVER been governor of Arkansas, and would have never been President for his second term, IF it had NOT been for Hillary.
she is a well accomplished woman and Senator, equal to any man or other woman in office...with experience and with intelligence, and she surpasses most with her intelligence.
No need to pass useless dribbles of inuendo of her not being worthy of her own accomplishments and rising because of the coat tail of a husband and anything else demeaning you can say about a "woman" that can "stick" with your male following and get a chuckle too i would bet....
She is where she is today, because of choices she made and actions she took in her life, as with anyone else that is running for the presidency and this "put the woman down" post above, while you have claimed on other posts to reverend women, is a bit disappointing to me.... and confusing?
but heh! I know i don't count and am no one.... so, feel free to carryon with your nonsense about Hillary making it where she is by climbing some "guys" coat tail and not through her own fruition of life itself and how she chose to embrace it as with any other candidate or "man" that is running is simply sexist imho.
She has plenty of policy choices and beliefs for you to not pick her as a candidate...your sexist remarks were unnecessary imo, even if unintentional.

With that I agree. Actually, I think Bill and Hillary worked together to get where they are. Her ambition and his Charisma make a fine team.

so you're saying he is nothing but a stupid worthless man without her? isn't that just as sexist a finger you are pointing @ Avatar by stating that? had nothing to do with that she is a woman. just pointing out his thoughts. and no offense here, but that is exactly the kinda statment to be made by the kinda lady that wrote the article, that he wouldn't be anywhere without her

DID I SAY THAT MONKEY????
Of course not and i would think that you could clearly see that i did NOT say that and you are actually trying to put words in my mouth in order to make what i said about what Avatar said seem less important or what avatar said all A-OK....but it doesn't, does it?
In the two circumstances that i mentioned, the governorship and Bill's second term as president were both FACTUAL instances in where Hillary came to save the day, with Bill.... i did not say that "bill is only out there in the political scene because he climbed HIllary's coat tails or fame as Avatar implied about Hillary, which IS A COMMON TERM by sexists or masochists of women that have moved ahead in their careers...giving demeaning excuses about why they climbed up the ladder verses the average joe like ROMNEY or whoever climbed the ladder....
I honestly don't understand how you can come to the defense of it and maybe i am a little sensitive about the subject because i am from another generation than you are and had to face alot of hurdles that women of today may not have to jump over, but i am not gonna change my stance on this....i believe what avatar said was unnecessary and that there are plenty of things to put hillary down for, but her being a weak nimble, brainless woman that needs to climb the ladder via her husbands coat tails cuz she doesn't have the brains or tanasity of her own to do it is ludacris and demeaning to all women... well, maybe not abbey, cuz she seems to agree with you! :) but i still don't!!! hahahahahaha..... oh boy...so there! lol :slap:

true or false: Hillary Clinton would still be running for President if her last name wasn't Clinton?
True or false: Hillary Clinton would still have had a Senate seat if her last name wasn't Clinton?

True or false, would Romney have been governor of massachusetts if his father had not been governor of Michigan? Well?
Can't you see how silly you are being?
Or true or false, Mccain would be a senator even if he had not been a POW in vietnam? Well?
Or true or false, Huckabee would still have been a Governor if he had not become a minister?
WHO KNOWS Avatar?
People make decisions throughout there entire lives from youth, leading them to where they are today, at this moment, and all of those decisions count to get one to where they are and accomplish what they have accomplished.
And the answer is yes, there is absolutely NO DOUBT in my mind that if Bill Clinton had not become the President or if hillary had never picked him to marry that if Hillary Clinton wanted to continue her career in politics right out of college and wanted to become a Senator, she would have become one...
as senator Cantwell, and Senator hutchison, and Senator Dole, and Senator Landreau sp? and any other woman that has made it in to the Senate....shoot she was president of the young republicans club in college....she had an interest back then....so yeah, more than likely she would have found a way to accomplish her goals...with or without Bill's coat tails.

The bottom line is JD, libs will be playing the race card with Obama - and the gender card with Hillary
Both of them are tax and spend liberals, that is why I will not vote for them
McCain is a RINO, and is more interested in getting glowing press coverage from the liberal media - and walking away from Reagan conservatism. That is why I will not vote for him

oookkkk...no need to yell JD. what i put is what i got from your post. perception is the greater part of reality. granted, she might have saved him for his second term and that, and that she might have accomplishments of her own, but the overall view of her is that she is using her last name, which just happens to be provided by her husband and his love of cigars.
and i all i said about Av's post was that he was countering what was listed about her, and that she hopped aborad the Bill bandwagon. nothing in there demeaning of all women. just that she used someone, doesn't always have to be a man, to get a ride on up. i mean look @ our current Bush. he probably got it cuz of daddy (and apprently big oil money but i ain't gettin into that). eveyone throughout time has used somebody to get where they are, no matter what the gender or race. and i am not saying (nor AV, but he doesn't need me to defend him) is saying that women haven't or can't make it on their own. just not this socialist.
i can understand about this being a sensitive issue, and i apologize if offended, as it was not my intent. but i still stand by the gist of what i said. the picture that was painted as just as sexist of the one accused.
btw, what generation did you grow up in JD? i didn't think that you were very old

We will never be able sort out how responsible Hillary is for her own political success because she tied herself so closely will Bill. I can see where women would love to have a candidate who they can get a big vicarious thrill about but Hillary ain't going to be it because she chose to join herself at the hip with Bill. While she is a multi-talented woman, the fact is that she followed her husband to fame and recognition pretty much destroys any credit she is going to get for being some kind of a trail blazer for women.
She deserves the same scrutiny and criticism that George got for riding on his daddys coat tails.

yah, yah, yah....maccain is where he is cuz of his daddy and his new wife's money, Romney is where he is cuz of his daddy and daddy's fame, and kerry is where he is cuz of his family connections and wife's money, yah, yah, yah....
and i say BS....EVERYONE is where they are because of circumstances and choices they made and actions they took with their own lives....Hillary made choices that got her and bill both where they are today... and bill made choices that got him and hillary where they are today....
Hillary is qualified to be president as much as romney as much as mccain as much as huckabee as much as obama and is there of her own fruition as with all of the candidates that i mentioned, not because she is a woman, but despite that she is a woman, and i don't even agree with her on most of her stances, but this is how i see it and....

Hey JD,
Yes Hillary and Obama are qualified - if you want a tax and spend liberal; surrender and appeasement to terrorists; government run healthcare; liberal Judges who make law from the bench; amnesity for illegals; and government going after large corporations

You are right. Most people are not qualified to fill that job. In fact, I'd probably say no one that wants that job is truly qualified to take it at least not in today's day and age. Unfortunately, we can't "draft" the people, if there is anyone, who are qualified. It wouldn't work. So we're stuck with those who are unqualified and who will take it.

Sorry, I have to disagree, that makes you eligible. It does not make you qualified. Your description of what the Constitution says is accurate; however, by this description someone in a permanently vegetative state would be "qualified" to be President of the United States. I personaly do not have a problem with him campaigning for her I would just like to point out that she really has not done ANYTHING of leadership quality.. She is USING her husband and thats it. Admit it if she was Hillary Rhodham we wouldn't give 2 rats asses for who she was but since her last name is Clinton we are supposed to over look her short comings.
You can bring up anyone else I dont really care I think they all have gone on name recognition and riding daddy's coat tails for the last 40 years..... the last name clinton hurts her as much as it helps her imo!
and she has accomplished as much or more than any of the other candidates still in the race, that's why i feel the focus on candidates for this ''accomplishment factor'' is moot, none of them or many previous presidents in recent history elected for the first time, had any real accomplishments that were the say all be all, in their qualifications for being our president imho.

ok, throw out accomplishments. what about just plain old experience? Obama is on what? his first term? and yah Hillary has been around the stuff, and been in there longer than Obama, but so what? since my dad is a cop and i have been around him does that mean i can go around arresting ppl?
PS: which i don't, i put on my superhero outfit and subdue the criminals, the police just pick them up for me

to JD- any of them have a history of cheating on thei spouses?
to Immie- HAHAHA! i think that hits the nail on the head.no, but they are the women and that is less common, at least with women of their eras.
And honestly, we really do not know....what goes on behind closed doors for any of them....it is always the ones i would expect least, is what i have learned from experience....
I am also with immie, only on the part where he says he admires her for sticking it out with her cheating husband Bill.... :) If you are religious at all, she did the right thing, no matter how painful it might have been kind of thing is where i fall....marriage is not for the faint of heart, it takes alot to deal with the "for better for worse....until death do we part", part!
THIS DOES NOT mean that i think this qualifies her for president! hahahaha! :laugh2:
