First the Dems waved the white flag in the face of terrorists

Then they waved the white flag in the face of Pres Bush, and gave up inserting their surrender date in spending bills

Now they surrender once again on FISA

Senate and Bush Agree On Terms of Spying Bill
Some Telecom Companies Would Receive Immunity

Senate Democrats and Republicans reached agreement with the Bush administration yesterday on the terms of new legislation to control the federal government's domestic surveillance program, which includes a highly controversial grant of legal immunity to telecommunications companies that have assisted the program, according to congressional sources.

Disclosure of the deal followed a decision by House Democratic leaders to pull a competing version of the measure from the floor because they lacked the votes to prevail over Republican opponents and GOP parliamentary maneuvers.

The collapse marked the first time since Democrats took control of the chamber that a major bill was withdrawn from consideration before a scheduled vote. It was a victory for President Bush, whose aides lobbied heavily against the Democrats' bill, and an embarrassment for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who had pushed for the measure's passage.

The Senate passed the revision with a large majority but the House wants to change it back to allow the trial lawyers to sue the telecom companies. They are voting right now on a 21 day extension that Bush already said he would veto. The Senate rejected an extension yesterday or the day before... House Republicans are furious and so far have had three votes to adjourn... 15 minutes a vote that requires everyone come to the floor.

The news reports the FISA expires Friday night at midnight and House Leader Nancy Pelosi's daughter is getting married on Saturday so my guess is they will turn purple, hold their breath, kick some rocks and then vote with the Senate to approve the Senate FISA bill by Friday.

How do the Democrats feel about getting their butts kicked (again) by a President they insist is too dumb to tie his own shoes?

I would also like to know how the Dems were "tricked" into voting for the war in Iraq. One of their excuses was Pres Bush tricked them - again, this is a man they have told us for 7 years is an idiot

Yesterday House leader Hoyer made a big speech about a three week extension of FISA because they needed more time to look at the Senate changes in FISA. They are worried that the ACLU and trial lawyers will miss their big chance to sue the telecoms companies... well the vote failed on the 21 day extension and it failed with Democratic votes. Now the Democratic Party in the House is between a rock and a hard place with the clock ticking. If they let the clock run out and go on vacation Bush will eat them for lunch.

It is always good to see the Dems stepping in it. Whenever they have power, their arrogance takes over, and they over reach
