Why is that (as the media tell it) everyone gets up in arms when Huckabee takes some time off from his presidential campaign to earn money by giving a speech, but no one seems to be complaining when Senators McCain, Obama and Clinton take time off from their elected jobs, that come with a government salary paid for by the taxpayer, to campaign for president?

Because they are the anointed ones of the media.

Actually Senator McCain hasn't been taking time off to campaign. He has still been making the votes and writing bills. Now Obama and Clinton have missed over 80% of their votes since the campaign began and haven't gotten anything accomplished. This subject has been gone over time and time again.

Wrong, again. McCain has missed 56% of all votes in the 110th Congress -- more than any other Senator save for Tim Johnson, the Senator who had a brain aneurysm a while back.

No one should believe a single word of bullshit you post.

Being a senator means more than simply writing bills and showing up to vote. What about McCain’s duty in floor debates? And doesn’t he have any committee assignments- on second thought, maybe his campaigning full time is a good thing.

Don't worry - when Ted Kennedy needs John's help - John will drop what he he is doing and be on the Senate floor to help his buddy Ted

You obviously haven’t been watching the news. Since the 1st of February Huckabee has won primaries in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana and Arkansas and came within 2 percentage points of a tie in the Washington state caucus while McCain has a hard time winning even 50% of the vote in the states that he has won. If it weren’t for the stupid winner-take-all system and Romney’s duplicity, McCain wouldn’t be anything close to a front-runner right now.

And just who cars what your opinion of Huckabee is?

No. During the whole campaign Romney kept saying how miserable McCain was, but then when it looked like Huckabee may actually give McCain a run for his money, Romney endorses and gives his delegates to McCain.

You've got to be joking. At no point in this race has Huckabee ever looked like he was going to be a serious contender. Conservatives simply aren't going to support a pro life liberal in the primaries.

When Romney dropped out he hadn’t won anything in the South. He had nothing locked up. And at the rate that Romney spent money it was going to cost him something like $1,300,000,000 to win enough delegates to be the nominee.

Iowa, with 34% of the vote when McCain was in, what? 3rd or 4th place? And chances are if Thompson’s name hadn’t been on the ballot in SC, Huckabee likely would have won there.
