Don't you think it's a bit late to talk to Bush about this now. I think a little confrontation of the current candidates MAY be a bit more productive.

Bush is the primary instigator yes, but the biggest reason I posted it is because of the importance of the issue. People need to be aware this movement is in progress, no matter who it is pushing it.

It's taboo--neither the media nor the candidates will touch it. I agree with ya though and good luck trying.

I don't know how taboo it is, but I do think most people believe it could never happen, all the while it is happening. Just another gleaming example of the level of ignorance and apathy in this country.

I think I've posted this before but I saw a man being interviewed on FOX. It was regarding another topic but when this man mention the NAU, his mic was cut and they went to break in mid-sentence. It was never mentioned again. How many times have you heard any media discuss it or ask a candidate about it in refererence to maintaining our sovereignty ?

Why are you primarily blaming Bush for this? Plans to expand NAFTA preceed his presidency.

And Dillo, did you really need to quote PR's entire post?

How is the super highway from Mexico to Canada doing anyway?

Honestly, would it really be that bad if we did? I mean, in seriousness, it wouldn't get done the way this guy's saying it would (I'm sorry but he's gone to far into the conspiracy theorist motif for my book.), given that Europe has a history of monarchy, while this side has a greater history of elected officials. It would go against the grain to try and stop that.

Also, seriously, we don't have a disparity between the rich and poor *now*?That's news to me, I mean, look at the top 3 candidates right now: Clinton, Obama, and McCain, who ALL are basically buying the election at this point. I don't accuse one side of doing so more than the other. I'm just saying that if you drop the conspiracy theory parts from the writing, you can see the framework of something that really could be beneficially.

If any candidate thought the framework was so great for America they would telling us how fervently they support it.

First off, yes it would be.

Secondly, how old are you?

Third, please tell me exactly what it is you see that is a conspiracy theory.

Is that where you get your opinions from? The liberal wiki? Yeah... that's a laugh too. Ha ha.

By the way, the article was about the NAU. I take notice you had no opinion on that, which is actually what's important.

It was convenient Pale, but really the idea of Canada having a socialist economy is bloody ridiculous. If that's the sort of crap Phyllis ("send me money") is sending out then it needs to be debunked as soon as it's seen. Harper is the Canadian PM, a drier Tory there has never been. I mean the bloke's from Alberta (Texas on the 49th Parallel) although born in Toronto.

I have an opinion on the topic, I just kept it to myself. This is my opinion - it's tinfoil hat territory. I have an opinion on bilateral trade treaties too. I detest them.

However being an Australian I think that I'll leave the NAU idea to North Americans to worry about. I just had to chip in to demonstrate how bloody stupid Phyllis' assertion was.

As you were.

Well it certainly is very easy for you deny the NAU frame work has already been set, and that it's conception is going on full steam ahead. I guess if something of the same nature was happening in Australia, I could sit here in America and tell you that you're just paranoid and full of conspiracy theory too, but I won't.

Dillo already pointed out to you that the NAU super highway is fully under construction in Austin, and the Mexican trucks are already freely driving in and out of the United States.... what part about that do you want to deny?

I can neither conform nor deny :D

But seriously. You've got NAFTA, was that a good idea? Who has benefited from it?

While NAFTA is a trade agreement, this NAU appears (at least from what I've read here) to be something akin to a gigantic single government for North America. I just don't see it happening, that's all.

no they wouldn't, because the first thing that would happen is that this exact article would be brought up. Can you even imagine the field day the reporters would have with a candidate being accused of backing up what's in that article?

I mean, jesus, how long did, "vast right-wing conspiracy" hang around Hilary's neck? In the age of the 30 second soundbite, truth matters much less than headlines.

I'm not in favor of these trade agreements. It gives too much rule making power to another nation about what we can and can't do. Screw that.

Whether or not the NAU will ever exist is up for debate. But what we do know is George Bush senior stood right in front of the congress of the United States of America and declared his vision for the "NEW WORLD ORDER." Like father, like son. So whether or not the NAU will ever exist, that surely is not to say we don't have people here, in our own government, pushing very hard, and trying to keep it as secret as possible, to make it a reality.

I'll head for Australia if that ever happens... :D
