For once I would like to see funny footage of a jet landing in massive cross-winds. I've had enough drama for a while. Maybe if you added a Yakety Sax soundtrack to it. :dunno:

Yakety Sax makes anything funny.

Thats one HELL of a pilot!!

Based only on the video, I am more inclined to question his judgment. Damn lucky he didn't ball it up before he aborted!

Agreed...

Why were they even trying to land a plane like that?

Must have been a hell of crosswind.

Why were they even trying to land a plane like that?

These kinds of landings take place everyday somewhere in the world - pilots are heavily trained for landing in crosswinds.....

The pilot here did do the right thing by trying to do what would otherwise be a "normal crosswind landing" - it was a complete surprise to him, I'm sure, that a sudden stronger wind hit the plane right before touch-down....

i was a passenger.....i puked instead...I was in a Company Jet, being sent to audit a store inventory in Jacksonville from our head quarters in Tampa, we went through a similar situation, I was certain we were dead, the pilot shouted louder than us when the wind hit, we managed to go back up and come in for another landing on the second try, which was smooth....

All i can say is that i was doing some serious- flashback of sins, hoping for forgiveness, thinking of loved ones, and just downright begging God to let us live!!!!!

And in a very quick and short period my Maker and I became very close!!!!!

Actually, i think all 10 of us coworkers on board had a renewed closeness with our Maker, and the Pilot did too!

I did not throw up, but almost did.....my hands and knees were shaking for hours though, i just could not stop them!!!! Even when i knew we were safe.

I caught a ride home with a coworker that had driven up to the inventory 3 days later, did not take the company jet back and did not fly on it again for year....A coworker and I drove to the stores while the other Buyers and Merchandisers flew....we met them there the day of or we drove in the night before....and since my boss, a vp was on the original flight with me, we were allowed to do this and it was understood!!! The company picked up the extra expense of the hotel and gas to get there for us...thank goodness. :)

I still don't like to fly, and this is almost 10 years from that experience. I do fly, but I hate it...just can't wait till the flight is over!

I said I questioned his judgment. This backs-up my opinion. This landing should have NEVER been attempted. They should have at least requested a different runway which they did for the second try. This MORON should be grounded because he attempted a landing beyond the capabilities of the aircraft!

The A320 has a crosswind landing limit of 33 kts gusting 38 kts

According to the data at the time, the wind was 35kts, gusting 55 kts.
