In an interview with Massachusetts' SouthCoastToday (watch it HERE), Obama-backing Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., says among other reasons he's supporting Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, is his belief that "it would be such an affirmation of who we say we are as a people. if we could elect an African-American president, young leader, who is obviously visionary about the ability to inspire people."

Kerry said that a President Obama would help the US, in relations with Muslim countries, "in some cases go around their dictator leaders to the people and inspire the people in ways that we can't otherwise."

"He has the ability to help us bridge the divide of religious extremism," Kerry said. "To maybe even give power to moderate Islam to be able to stand up against this radical misinterpretation of a legitimate religion."

Kerry was asked what gives Obama that credibility.

"Because he's African-American. Because he's a black man. Who has come from a place of oppression and repression through the years in our own country."

She should for this...someone should! Obama is no more "African" than I am. Hell, he was born in Honolulu! He's NOT a black man, he's mixed race, dark skinned sure. Oh yeah, he's Christian too, not Muslim.

no kidding, like many darker skin americans, he has no effing clue what it TRULY means to be african. is he a white african, an arab african or:

a BUSHMAN that the blacks of africa slaughtered wholesale.

Is Kerry relevant to anything in the US anymore?

It is his kind of thinking that a guy like Obama could help us with radical extremists that really scares me most. Obama is no more ready to deal with extremists than he is ready to deal with with NRA....

His ideals and vision are clearly at odds with what the medieval radical islamic murderers want in office. Someone who will try to embrace them, and understand them...perhaps even getting close enough to have a photo op, only to get their noggin seperated from their torso.....

Sheeeeesh. Being raised in Hawaii by white grandparents and sent to private school, then to Harvard ------------- this is a "place of oppression and repression"? And then sailing through elections to the Illinois legislature and easily getting elected Senator and then inside three years running for president?

Darn, Obama has never had ANY hardship of any kind as far as I can see.

Kerry maybe should learn some basics about the person he's endorsing before he mouths off.
