WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Six nuclear warheads on cruise missiles were mistakenly carried on a flight from North Dakota to Louisiana last week, prompting a major investigation, military officials have confirmed.

The plane took the cruise missiles from Minot Air Force Base to Barksdale Air Force Base for decommissioning Thursday, the Air Force said.

"This is a major gaffe, and it's going to cause some heads to roll down the line," said Don Shepperd, a retired Air Force major general and military analyst for CNN.

Shepperd said the United States had agreed in a Cold War-era treaty not to fly nuclear weapons. "It appears that what happened was this treaty agreement was violated," he said. The warheads should have been removed from the missiles before they were attached to the B-52 bomber, according to military officials. Watch the report on the military's investigation.

The crew was unaware that the plane was carrying nuclear weapons, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the extraordinary sensitivity and security surrounding the case.

She wants to join the military but she wants to show how inept they are as well. Maybe she is hoping to show how it "improves" when her dumbass gets in there....

At first I thought she was posting this story:

Pentagon Says It Mistakenly Sent Non-Nuclear Ballistic Missile Parts to Taiwan
Tuesday, March 25, 2008

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon announced Tuesday that the United States mistakenly shipped to Taiwan four electrical fuses designed for use on intercontinental ballistic missiles, but has since recovered them.

The error is particularly disturbing, officials said, because of its indirect link to nuclear weaponry and because of the sensitivity of U.S. arms sales to Taiwan, which China regularly denounces as provocative. The Defense Department said an investigation of the incident is under way... (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,341319,00.html)

It's recent and worthy of discussion.

Yeah that's the one I was trying to get hjmick.

I kind of figured that might be the case, then the second link you posted was a different version of your first one and I wasn't sure.

From what I have heard, the seals weren't broken on the fuses which means no one attempted to reverse engineer them. Taiwan was up front about the confusion, though it seems that it took them several attempts to convince the Pentagon of the error and return the fuses.

At a news conference, Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne said the misshipped items were four electrical fuses for nose cone assemblies for ICBMs. He also said they were delivered to Taiwan in 2006 and had been sent instead of helicopter batteries that had been ordered by Taiwan.

Ironic... as I'm reading this I'm listening to an Air Force commercial on TV for "Cyber Command." The ones responsible for "internet security." Hmmm... they might be in need of some good people....

Just out of curiosity, why a story from September 2007?

Because she considers it her mission to throw dirt on the US military at every available opportunity.

Guess nothing bad happened today so time to head to the files ....
