Agreed, if they acted yesterday, it's at least 8 years in the future. It could have been started under Clinton, it could have been started under Bush-any year, but wasn't. Start now.

This will become a predominate issue for this year's elections. People should start demanding that congress let us produce more of our own oil.

Yes and building refineries. We have as of now, the third largest oil supply in the world, but Congress has protected all of it from being drilled or harvested. In ANWAR the oil literally bubbles up through the ground, but no go. CA and FL should NOT be allowed to cause the US to go into bankruptcy, but they are.

Funny how the environmentalists don't want to destroy our environment but could care less about the Middle east. We could be energy independent for probably the next 300 years if we were able to drill ANWAR and the shale oil that permeates the midwest.

Not only done, but passed along to all 24 people in my email along with a note asking them to pass it on.

It's time MAJORITY stood up and told the MINORITY to sit the fuck down and shut the hell up, we need our oil and we're going to go get it.

It coulda started under Jimmy Carter. The drive to drill in ANWR misses a couple of fundamental points. 1 - Best estimate is ten years before commercially viable quantities of oil could hit the market. 2 - The proven reserves would be a drop in the bucket of US energy demand.

A more realistic alternative would be to invest the money that would be spent on developing the field on alternative energy sources....Solar...hydrogen...nuclear...Thus bringing to an end America's dependence on oil, creating new technologies and jobs along the way. Get real people.

Yeah and they've been saying solar, hydrogen, nuclear for HOW MANY yrs. now and we still don't have those..

This has gone on long enough...we should be able to drill our own damn land here in the U.S.

If Alaskains support it why not drill. Think of all the jobs it creates.

http://www.anwr.org/People/Residents-of-ANWR-Support.php

The residents of Kaktovik, the only people living on the Coastal Plain of ANWR, support oil and gas development in their 'back yard'. Alaska's indigenous people have benefited greatly from North Slope production. In addition to providing a tax base for the local government, oil development has provided jobs, funding for water and sewer systems and schools. Native and village corporations with oil field-related subsidiaries are working on the North Slope, and the local government has a voice in permitting and environmental regulation.

Organizations representing the residents of the Coastal Plain and surrounding area such as the City of Kaktovic, Kaktovik Inupiat Corporation, North Slope Borough, Arctic Slope Regional Corp., Doyon Regional Corporation and Alaskan Federation of Natives have all endorsed development based on their experience with Prudhoe Bay.

Just announcing we're going to drill there will start the oil prices dropping. Once we actually start drilling, it'll go even further down. And if they had done this 10 years ago, we wouldn't be having this problem now.

Why are so many people painting Oil comanies as evil? Oil companies have done nothing worng, and keep the world going

If Green and liberal pinheads would shut he hell up and let oil companies do theiur job, we have lower gas prices and plenty of oil to meet the current demand

Thnaks for making my point for me. The far left has no desore to discuss and solve the issue. All they want to do is to attack and keep using the issue

But Dems love high oil prices. They love to tell people how they are being savaged by "Big Oil" They kove to hear people whine about how much to costs to fill up their cars and trucks

Dems love to hear the tales of woe. They see these people as victims and will use them as political props

Will the Dems solve the issue? Of course not. But they will try to make the fools that listen to them feel better by atacking "Big Oil" No new drilling - no increase of domestic production - now lower prices for oil and gas

The Democrat party at "work"

Exactly how is solar, hydrogen or nuclear going to fuel my car? We need to fix the immediate problem and then worry about the long term stuff. My car runs on gasoline, not hydrogen or solar or nuclear or dem promises.

The more drilling done the less the price of gas and the more the consumer uses. That means more profits and more to invest in future fuels.

Gaffer, you left out another key factor that is needed to lower gas prices

We need MORE refineries. They are running at near 100? and can't handle an increase in oil

Of course Dems and Greenies are opposed to that as well

They were to work with Republicans

They were to work a 5 day work week

They were to lower gas prices

They were to cut the amount of pork

They were to reduce Congressional perks

They were going to end the war in Iraq and surender to the terrorists

These are some of the promises the Dems made to get elected in 2006. All were forgoten and are broken promises

Did I forget anything?
