I am truly stunned at this bill..we need to stand up to this as much as we did Amnesty.

We wrote here about the economic disaster that goes by the name Lieberman-Warner, the carbon cap-and-trade system now being considered by the Senate. We posted a diagram created by the Chamber of Commerce that exposed the ludicrous complexity and intrusiveness of the proposal.

The bill, as amended by Barbara Boxer, has now gotten even worse. Boxer's amendment adds more than 300 regulations and mandates. The Chamber has accordingly prepared another version of their chart that reflects Boxer's changes. It is a remarkable document; click to enlarge:
chart at their site..

This morning, four Republican Senators held a press conference on Lieberman-Warner. Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma:

[T]his would be the largest single tax increase in the history of the country. This is the -- using their own figures, it would be $6.7 trillion, with a maximum giving back over the life of this bill of $2.5 trillion. That leaves $4.2 trillion dollars.

WTF is the Senate thinking? They should be talking about opening ANWR, the Gulf area and easing restrictions on refineries instead of the dumbshit. What a bunch of morons!

Investors' Daily says today that this bill will not pass -----------

But that it's a dress rehearsal for climate bills when the Dems control the government.

Our country is run on tax money. You can't have improvements without paying for them.
Welcome to the new world. It's time to step up and repair the U.S.

sure we can. Individuals and groups can get together in private organizations and improve things without government assistance.

If the government can bail out private corporations that failed due to their own stupidity, they can bail our infrastructure, failing social and economic programs and educational systems.

You can pay your additional taxes with the money you save from not buying ammo. :p

Our country is run on tax money.

I'm speechless with awe.

I couldn't sum up the liberal philosophy and agenda better, or more concisely, than that.

Anything that doesn't depend on tax money, isn't really part of our country.

My hat is off to gabby.

No, following the legal process is the antithesis of a civil war.

I don't think people would like a civil war as much as they think they would, though I am interested that it is being discussed openly as much as it is these days.

That is how we WILL end as a nation, presumably, at some point ----- most empires and large countries break up at a fairly frequent rate, after all. German 1945, Soviet Union 1991, British Empire early 20th century, Austrian Empire 1918, Ottoman Empire 1919, etc.

Well, and the U.S. in 1860, of course, for awhile.
