Should congress tell us which light bulbs we can use?

I have Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (CFL) in my home already. It almost makes me want to get rid of them and buy regular incandescent bulbs. I do save about 20% a month on my electrical since I switched but telling me which bulbs i have to use, come on.

Yes.

Just like they're making us convert to HDTV next year, they can and should tell us to convert to CFL.

Congress will keep on the CFL until enough deaths occur from it. The bulbs are toxic if broken. How many people are going to die before Congress gets scared... who knows?

Congress only has the power to regulate interstate commerce. Technically, if someone makes light bulbs in a state, and sells only in that same state, Congress has no authority over it.

You are correct, but then the Court hasnt actually enforced that in decades.

I'm willing to pay extra for incandescent bulbs, and the warm light they emit.
I may have to stockpile.
