The First Infantry Regiment is the oldest regiment in the army. The first battalion is the one that performs all the ritual duties. Guarding cemeteries and special functions.

The second battalion is the combat battalion. My old unit. Last I heard they were part of the 10th Mountain Division.

Our motto was/is Semper Primus.

I remember some school in I think WI started Flag Day, which spread to the district and out from there. My guess the teacher, (male in 19th C), was Army. ;) :salute:
