The greater point is: when a board gets to be so tilted in membership that liberals don't even bother to show up anymore, is what occurs here at that point really "debate". It really boils down to a bunch of liberal haters telling Obama jokes to one another.

"out of fairness"???? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

that is really quite funny, RSR!

One pro Obama post. in a tread about Obama's friends. My point is valid: DP.com is fast becoming a conservative circle jerk...

and obviously, for jerks like you who cannot actually use words to debate issues, who cannot defend your positions with facts, that is a move in the right direction.

And I am not angry at all. I am going to work at home for a bit this morning finishing my sermon, and then I'm off to the hospital to visit some folks. The sun is shining and life is good and my future is bright! :)

Questions Raised in Light of New Reports Examining Senator’s Contacts and Associations with Communists, Socialists, and Terrorists

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Two veterans of investigations into Communist influence on the U.S. political process are holding a briefing on Capitol Hill on Thursday to release two new explosive reports that allege that Barack Obama had ties with extreme anti-American elements, including agents of the Moscow-controlled Communist Party USA. The reports will shed important new light on Barack Obama's mysterious past and rise to power.

"Communism in Chicago and the Obama Connection" a 36-page report by Cliff Kincaid, and "Communism in Hawaii and the Obama Connection" a 44-page report by by Herbert Romerstein, and will be released at a Briefing on Thursday, May 22, at 2 p.m. on Capitol Hill at 201 F St., NE, Washington, D.C. The reports feature historical, congressional and archival material about the existence of communist networks targeting U.S. national security.

The major points in the reports allege:

Obama has been in the middle of two international communist networks – one in Hawaii and one in Chicago. The Hawaii network included communists Frank Marshall Davis, who was Obama’s personal mentor; actor/singer Paul Robeson; and labor leader Harry Bridges. The network was judged a security threat to the United States and the subject of a congressional hearing on the “Scope of Soviet Activity in the United States.” Obama covered up the true identity of Frank Marshall Davis in his book, Dreams From My Father.

The Hawaii communist network was organized directly by and from Moscow. The Chicago network included identified communists and socialists, was committed to a communist victory in the Vietnam War, and took instructions from the communist Castro regime in Cuba. In addition to communist terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, who were members of the communist terrorist Weather Underground, the Chicago network includes many veterans of the communist Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) who now proclaim themselves “Progressives for Obama.” Bill Ayers, who helped launch Obama’s political career, has traveled to Venezuela on several occasions and is an enthusiastic backer of the brand of communism being practiced and promoted by Hugo Chavez. It appears that Obama actually worked for Ayers in a Chicago educational reform program that dispensed millions of dollars of grants. One of the leaders of “Progressives for Obama” is former SDS leader Tom Hayden, who wrote a letter to a communist Vietnamese official during the Vietnam War hoping for a “victory” over the U.S. The SDS openly promoted communism, the regimes in Hanoi and Havana, and condemned alleged U.S. “imperialism.”

The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), a group that included a convicted espionage agent for communist East Germany, backed and promoted Obama’s political career. Illinois State Senator Alice Palmer, who picked Obama as her successor, has a record of involvement in communist front activities. Obama campaign strategist David Axelrod, as well as Obama himself, have not explained why Ayers, Dohrn, then-State Senator Alice Palmer, and Dr. Quentin Young came together at the Ayers/Dohrn home to launch Obama’s political career. Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, a client of Axelrod, issued a controversial and misleading statement defending Obama’s relationship with communist terrorist Bill Ayers. Herbert Romerstein served as an investigator or staff member for the U. S. House Committee on Un‑American Activities, the House Committee on Internal Security, and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He was head of the Office to Counter Soviet Disinformation for the United States Information Agency. One of his recent books is the acclaimed The Venona Secrets: Exposing Soviet Espionage and America’ Traitors

You, like soo many other libs fail to take into cosideration that a man is judged by the company he keeps, Ohh wait my mistake you only do that for conservatives and republicans, everyone they associate with is fair game, however when it comes to your candidate its "why should we care what an aquaintance of his has to say" You know the old saying "you can't have it both ways".

Obama worked with terrorist
Senator helped fund organization that rejects 'racist' Israel's existence

JERUSALEM – The board of a nonprofit organization on which Sen. Barack Obama served as a paid director alongside a confessed domestic terrorist granted funding to a controversial Arab group that mourns the establishment of Israel as a "catastrophe" and supports intense immigration reform, including providing drivers licenses and education to illegal aliens.

The co-founder of the Arab group in question, Columbia University professor Rashid Khalidi, also has held a fundraiser for Obama. Khalidi is a harsh critic of Israel, has made statements supportive of Palestinian terror and reportedly has worked on behalf of the Palestine Liberation Organization while it was involved in anti-Western terrorism and was labeled by the State Department as a terror group.

In 2001, the Woods Fund, a Chicago-based nonprofit that describes itself as a group helping the disadvantaged, provided a $40,000 grant to the Arab American Action Network, or AAAN, for which Khalidi's wife, Mona, serves as president. The Fund provided a second grant to the AAAN for $35,000 in 2002.

Obama was a director of the Woods Fund board from 1999 to Dec. 11, 2002, according to the Fund's website. According to tax filings, Obama received compensation of $6,000 per year for his service in 1999 and 2000.

Obama served on the Wood's Fund board alongside William C. Ayers, a member of the Weathermen terrorist group which sought to overthrow of the U.S. government and took responsibility for bombing the U.S. Capitol in 1971.

Ayers, who still serves on the Woods Fund board, contributed $200 to Obama's senatorial campaign fund and has served on panels with Obama at numerous public speaking engagements. Ayers admitted to involvement in the bombings of U.S. governmental buildings in the 1970s. He is a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The $40,000 grant from Obama's Woods Fund to the AAAN constituted about a fifth of the Arab group's reported grants for 2001, according to tax filings obtained by WND. The $35,000 Woods Fund grant in 2002 also constituted about one-fifth of AAAN's reported grants for that year.

The AAAN, headquartered in the heart of Chicago's Palestinian immigrant community, describes itself as working to "empower Chicago-area Arab immigrants and Arab Americans through the combined strategies of community organizing, advocacy, education and social services, leadership development, and forging productive relationships with other communities."

It reportedly has worked on projects with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, which supports open boarders and education for illegal aliens.

Another group Obama is linked to

Acorn Community Org

Obama did legal worked for them and he also was one of their community organizers in Chicago.

ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, a community organization of low- and moderate-income families that addresses housing, schools, neighborhood safety, health care, job conditions, and other social issues that affect its members. With a membership of over 350,000, ACORN is organized into more than 850 neighborhood chapters in over 100 cities across the United States, as well as in Argentina, Canada, Mexico, and Peru. The organization was born out of the American Civil Rights Movement. ACORN was founded in 1970 by Wade Rathke, George Wiley, and Gary Delgado.[1] Maude Hurd has been National President of ACORN since 1990.

Allegations of election fraud

On September 7, 2004, a Columbus, Ohio grand jury indicted ACORN employee and felony parolee Kevin Eugene Dooley for election fraud. The indictment charges Dooley forged a signature to a voter registration form.[15]

During the 2004 election, an ACORN member named Mac Stuart was working for ACORN’s voter registration effort in Miami-Dade County. Stuart reported seeing ACORN workers copying voter registration forms, which is illegal under Florida law, and segregating voter registration forms for Republicans that were not subsequently turned into the County. After Stuart reported these irregularities to the election officials, ACORN fired him. Stuart filed suit against ACORN in May, 2005 for wrongful termination. ACORN countersued for defamation. Stuart’s lawsuit was dismissed on the grounds that he couldn’t prove he was terminated for reporting the allegations of fraud to the authorities and his allegations of fraud were ruled by the judge as baseless (this was the last of three fraud cases related to the 2004 elections brought against Florida ACORN all of which were dismissed).[16]

In August 2004 a lawsuit was filed in Albuquerque alleging that New Mexico Secretary of State Rebecca Vigil-Giron improperly exempted individuals who registered to vote through canvassers from requirements that some new registrants submit ID at polling places.[17] In a court case, ACORN director Matt Henderson invoked his Fifth Amendment rights when asked if his group made illegal copies of voter registration cards before submitting them. The Albuquerque Tribune claims he told them this was done.[17]

In January 2005 two ex-ACORN workers were convicted in Denver of perjury for submitting false voter registrations.[18] Some other investigations responding to fraud allegations ended in Colorado, Wisconsin,[16] and Ohio after finding no evidence of pervasive voter fraud.[citation needed]

On November 1, 2006, four part time ACORN employees were indicted in Kansas City, Missouri for voter registration fraud, after being caught, fired, and turned in by ACORN. Federal indictments allege two counts each of voter registration fraud. Prosecutors said the indictments are part of a national investigation.[19] ACORN said in a press release that it is in large part responsible in these individuals being caught, and has cooperated and publicly supported efforts to look into the validity of the allegations.[20]

ACORN was investigated in 2006 for submitting false voter registrations in St. Louis, Missouri. 1,492 fraudulent voter registrations were identified, some from the dead and others for underage voters who were not aware they had been registered by ACORN.[21]

ACORN was investigated in 2007 by King County, Washington for filing false registrations. An elections department employee called 400 phone numbers that were provided on the cards from a sample of those turned in by ACORN. Of the 400 phone numbers, only two were good, and both people denied filling out voter registration cards. The registrations were turned in after the deadline to register and the registrations were not processed for the 2006 election.[22] On July 26, 2007, felony charges were filed against seven ACORN employees including supervisors for filing 1762 false registrations.[

Would you have dinner with a known terrorist?

“I can remember being one of a small group of people who came to Bill Ayers’ house to learn that Alice Palmer was stepping down from the senate and running for Congress,” said Dr. Quentin Young, a prominent Chicago physician and advocate for single-payer health care, of the informal gathering at the home of Ayers and his wife, Dohrn. “[Palmer] identified [Obama] as her successor.”

Obama and Palmer “were both there,” he said.

You are known by the company you keep.

Birds of a feather flock together.

You are who you run with.

I realize these idioms are simplistic and somewhat broad, but they do hold a certain amount of truth. You see examples of their truth nearly everyday.

Someone riding with a group of Hell's Angels probably isn't an attorney.

For example, I have a daughter who keeps company with drug addicts, drug dealers, ex-convicts, thieves, burglars, and other criminals of various stripes. I know what she's doing and I know what she is. It breaks my heart, but there is no denying the truth.

On the other hand, I have another daughter who is successful, smart, funny, and responsible. She pulled straight "A"s last semester, she's in college and works full time. Here boyfriend is employed, and her friends have never seen the inside of a jail cell. I know and like her friends. They are people of good character.

The people I associate with are all responsible adults, law abiding, employed, strong of heart and character. I associate with them because of these things. Through these associations I have met others of similar character. Why? Because birds of a feather...

If I find that my judgement is lacking and someone I call a friend turns out to be of questionable character, I distance myself from them which leads to exorcising them from my circle. Why? Because you are who you run with. Is this harsh? Perhaps, but I don't have a problem living my principles.

I recognize that candidates seeking political office are creatures whose associations are frequently the result of political need or expediency, and that alone should make them suspect, but it is how the handle these associations in the harsh light of the public eye that matters. When the evidence points to an acquaintance of "friend" being of questionable character, how these political animals handle the revelation is as important as it is relevant. If my drug addled convict of a daughter comes to me and says she has changed her ways, sobered up and gone straight, yet still keeps the company of derelicts, drug addicts and criminals, I know she is lying.

Like it or not, who your friends and associates are matters. Not just in politics, but in life.

Oh my, here is one article in a Chicago media outlet. Ayers even poses for a picture with him stom pibng ont he US flag

No Regrets
From our August 2001 issue: "Kill your parents!" urged sixties leftist Bill Ayers, whose father was the chairman of Commonwealth Edison here. In Ayers's new memoir, Fugitive Days, he reconciles his militant past with his present identity: father of three, esteemed professor at UIC—and unabashed patron of the great bourgeois coffee chain, Starbucks
By Marcia Froelke Coburn

At 55, Bill Ayers, the notorious sixties radical, still carries a whiff of that rock 'n' roll decade: the oversize wire-rim glasses that, in a certain light, reveal themselves as bifocals; a backpack over his shoulder—not some streamlined, chic job, but a funky backpack-of-the-people, complete with a photo button of abolitionist John Brown pinned to one strap.

Yet he is also a man of the moment. For example: There is his cell phone, laid casually on the tabletop of this neighborhood Taylor Street coffee shop, and his passion for double skim lattes. In conversation, he has an immediate, engaging presence; he may not have known you long but, his manner suggests, he's already fascinated. Then there is his quick laugh and his tendency to punctuate his comments by a tap on your arm.

Overall, it is not easy to imagine him as part of the Weatherman, a group that during the late sixties and early seventies openly called for revolution in America, led a violent rampaging protest in Chicago, and took credit for numerous bombings around the United States.

One of the Weatherman leaders was Bernardine Dohrn, a smart, magnetic figure who, in part because of her penchant for miniskirts and knee-high boots, was dubbed "La Pasionaria of the Lunatic Left" by FBI director J. Edgar Hoover. After a bomb exploded accidentally and killed three of their colleagues, Ayers and Dohrn "hooked up," in the parlance of the day, and, since 1982, they have been married. This—violence, death, and white-hot rhetoric—is his past and Ayers insists he has no regrets. "I acted appropriately in the context of those times," he says. But it's hard to reconcile this quick-witted man with that revolutionary. Today Bill Ayers seems too happy to have ever been so angry.

Ayers, now a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, claims to abhor nostalgia ("Nothing is more boring than some old person going on and on about the way things used to be"). But he has been thinking lately about the past—both his and the country's—and soon he will likely be engaged in what he calls "a dialogue" about the sixties, the antiwar movement, and the radical life he led. The spur for this dialogue will be the publication of Fugitive Days (Beacon Press, $24), a memoir Ayers has written about the trajectory of his life, from a pampered son of the Chicago suburbs to a young pacifist to a founder of one of the most radical political organizations in U.S. history.

Rebel Without a Pause
From our May 1993 issue: In the early 1970s, Bernardine Dohrn and her Weatherman cohorts were blowing up buildings. Today, she has a new—respectable—revolution to lead.
By Patricia Lear

She is married to Bill Ayers, himself a legendary radical and the son of Thomas Ayers, for years the chairman of Commonwealth Edison here. In 1970, Bill Ayers summed up the Weatherman philosophy: "Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that's where it's really at." (His parents now split the year between Chicago and Palma Valley, California, and they are doing just fine.) Dohrn and Ayers, an education professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, live in Hyde Park with their two boys and a third child, the son of Kathy Boudin, another radical who is serving time for a 1981 holdup in Nyack, New York, that left three people dead. Dohrn and Ayers are visible around town in liberal social circles; by almost all accounts of those who know them well, they are a lively, thoughtful, loving couple.

Northwestern, the MacArthur Foundation, the University of Illinois—the seeming ease with which Dohrn and Ayers have slipped back into the comfortable end of Chicago life seems to give credence to the most cynical analysis of their late-sixties ideals. Mike Royko, speaking in a recent interview about the radicals in general, says it best: "They came from a background of being rich kids, where apparently tantrums would get them what they wanted. And they wanted immediate gratification and social change."

A number of people who have followed Dohrn's career are furious that she hasn't been made to pay a heavier price for her past, and their lingering auger is probably what has made the Northwestern public relations apparatus nervous. Already, her connection with the school has caused a bit of a flap on campus, with at least one law professor speaking out against her. "I do not in any way challenge the motives or the integrity of any of my colleagues, and I have no reason to doubt that she is a hardworking, socially conscious lawyer," says Professor Dan Polsby. "I do know that some genuinely horrific things are in her background, and I am bewildered and unhappy to reflect that she finds no occasion for the expression of remorse for the cruelties that she—at a younger time, a while ago, but nevertheless—for the cruelties that she inflicted on other people, including many, many innocent people."

Stronger language comes from Peter Collier, a radical turned conservative whose 1989 book, Destructive Generation (co-written with David Horowitz), is bitterly critical of late-sixties political movements. "The part that I think is outrageous has very little to do with her," he says. "It's Northwestern and it's MacArthur and it's the bar. What it shows me is this moron Dan Quayle, he really hit a nerve here on this notion of the cultural elite, the idea that these people would protect and enhance the reputation of this vicious, bloody-minded woman who is kind of the Lady Macbeth of the movement. This is an amazing thing and it could happen only on the Left."

That's an interesting point, one I was just thinking about as I read the last few posts. I knew who Ayers was and I'm not a hardcore conservative. I was unaware of any ties Obama might have to him until last year, but then again I was unaware of Obama until 2004.

While I find it hard to believe that a young, up and coming, highly intelligent, Chicago lawyer who was the president of the Harvard Law Review and fostered political aspirations didn't know who Ayers was, I suppose anything is possible.

Now, on a lighter note...

Ayers did was one of the far left nuts who helpe Obama get his political start. I guess Obama will say about the terrorist part of Ayers "that Ayers is not the man I knew"

snip

The earliest known contact between Obama and Ayers was when the couple hosted a “meet and greet” for Obama at Ayers house in Hyde Park -– an upper middle class neighborhood on Chicago’s south side, where Obama now lives as a neighbor of Louis Farrakhan.

A Chicago-based blogger named Maria Warren — whose writing suggested she was to the left of Obama — recalled watching the candidate give a “standard, innocuous little talk” in 1995, in the Ayers’ living room when Obama was running for the state Senate.

“They were launching him,” Warren wrote, “introducing him to the Hyde Park community as the best thing since sliced bread.”

Ayers and Dohrn are simply the most visible of the far left supporters who propelled Barack Obama’s early political career. The woman who touted Obama at the Ayers meeting, Alice Palmer, was herself a far left activist who was into community organizing like Obama.

Wondering whether the three may have crossed paths is not speculation. It is a fact that they have. Ayers, Dohrn, and Obama have appeared together at a number of gatherings and academic events.

In November 1997, Ayers and Obama participated in a panel at the University of Chicago entitled “Should a child ever be called a ’super predator?’” to debate “the merits of the juvenile justice system.”

In April 2002, Ayers, Dohrn, and Obama, then an Illinois State Senator, participated together at a conference entitled “Intellectuals: Who Needs Them?” sponsored by The Center for Public Intellectuals and the University of Illinois-Chicago. Ayers and Obama were two of the six members of the “Intellectuals in Times of Crisis” panel.

“I know they are friends,” said Dr. Young of Obama and Ayers.
