First off - most of these aren't photographs - just snapshots. I can't tell which I even LIKE because I'm on a Laptop Monitor using a touch pad to edit these :-(

This church seemed aglow - it was, thanks to the sun rising right behind it. I didn't execute the image as well as I'd have liked...but it was about FIVE Degrees out, with windchill....Too cold to keep trying

Love the church, and the tree, and the cupola... I want to go up in there.

You are so lucky to have the opportunity to travel. :)

You will get to see Spring hit the east coast, though, and that is a lovely thing!

Three additional

I wanted to give this pic a fuzzy, old-warm feeling. I won't know how well I succeeded until I get to a good monitor. :-/

This one - I wanted the flare. I thought if I could get flare cutting across it'd add an almost ghosty? Feeling to the scene.

Try this in B&W, and increase the glare... see if that increases the "ghostly" effect. :)

Um... PLEASE. :D

Why not go to the local Compusa (or equivilent) and pick up a cheap USB mouse? :)

Perhaps because that wouldn't cure the typical, craptastic, display that comes with most laptops. ;)

I love the composition... the way the first bird is looking the opposite way. Very good shot, although the color & lighting aren't so good. But maybe that can be fixed... with your talent, I'm sure. :)

Excellent pictures, Darin. Could almost see where I briefly lived in the background! Wait until it's real late and dark out, then head into DC and get some pictures for us. And no, don't go by all the drunks, head down by the football stadium, it's real safe in that area at night. :laugh2:

I like the focus and the framing in this picture. Also the subject... The busy city/Capitol next to the gravestones... Making the gravestones out-of-focus gives the impression that the dead are almost forgotten; even while standing among them, life is still surging forward beyond the graveyard.

Yes, Clay - that's gravelly Point park, iirc...right there by DCA. :)If you go on a weekday, it's packed with airport taxi drivers hanging out. Borderline creepy.

Great place once it warms up, though. They play all sorts of sports on that big open field. Plus, planes!

Nice...

if you're looking for other outdoorsy recommendations...

http://www.nps.gov/grfa/

and

http://www.nps.gov/shen/

both are a bit of a drive from where you're at, so probably would be a weekend activity.
