Now here is a good flip-flop. When the 20th anniversary edition of David Halberstam's book "The Best and the Brightest" was published in 2001, John McCain wrote the forward. The book criticizes the U.S. involvement in the Viet Nam war and lies and deceit involved.

How interesting -- first McCain collaborates with the North Vietnamese, then works to derail the efforts of POW/MIA activists, and later criticizes the entire charade as a worthless endeavor. And you want this guy to be Commander in Chief?

Oh well, McCain may be a traitor to his country, but at least he is not black.

It was a shameful thing to ask men to suffer and die, to persevere through god-awful afflictions and heartache, to endure the dehumanizing experiences that are unavoidable in combat, for a cause that the country wouldn’t support over time and that our leaders so wrongly believed could be achieved at a smaller cost than our enemy was prepared to make us pay. No other national endeavor requires as much unshakable resolve as war. If the nation and the government lack that resolve, it is criminal to expect men in the field to carry it alone

This isn't a flip flop it is actually the same thing he is saying about the war in Iraq. We need to stay until the job is done, until the gov. there has things under controll and THEY can handle the insurgents.

Unlike the vietnam war where our military was not given the authority to actually win.
