I wonder how many days Justice Thomas served as a judge before he was nominated to the Supreme Court?

I don't know about 'days', but he had experience:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarence_Thomas

...From 1974 to 1977, Thomas was an Assistant Attorney General of Missouri under then State Attorney General John Danforth. When Danforth was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1976 to 1979, Thomas left to become an attorney with Monsanto in St. Louis, Missouri. He returned to work for Danforth from 1979 to 1981 as a Legislative Assistant. Both men shared a common bond in that both had studied to be ordained (although Thomas was Roman Catholic and Danforth was ordained Episcopalian). Danforth was to be instrumental in championing Thomas for the Supreme Court.

In 1981, he joined the Reagan administration. From 1981 to 1982, he served as Assistant Secretary of Education for the Office of Civil Rights in the U.S. Department of Education. From 1982 to 1990 he was Chairman of the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ("EEOC").

In 1990, President George H. W. Bush appointed Thomas to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

[edit] Supreme Court appointment

Main article: Clarence Thomas Supreme Court nomination

On July 1, 1991 President George H.W. Bush nominated Thomas to replace Thurgood Marshall who had recently announced his retirement.[13] Marshall had been the only African American justice on the court. The selection of Thomas preserved the existing racial composition of the court, but it was seen as likely to move the ideological balance to the right....

Obama's assessment of Thomas's qualifications as a USSC justice is equivalent to a shoe salesman passing judgement on a transmission specialists qualifications to be an auto mechanic!

Or, does he not support Thomas as a USSC Justice because he's not "black" enough?

Thomas, Scalia and Alito are scary people for democracy. I have the same thoughts today as when I posted this humor.

Oh, No, Alito

If you are looking for a critical analysis of Samuel Alito you’ll need to look elsewhere. Category humor.

Can you believe it Scalia and now Alito, another Italian Catholic just too much. Is it an accident Fascism started in Italy? Living in Philly is a great place to eat great Italian food but have you ever known a Italian man who was not a dictator.

Can a dictator be other than a Fascist? Give you some examples. My wife asked her sister to come up and stay the weekend with the girls. “oh no, I can’t do that Tony would never allow that.” Names are changed to protect the guilty.

My neighbor Thomas’s wife goes out with the girls, the phone rings - where are you - the phone rings again - where are you now. The phone rings - these kids, what do I do…the phone rings, you get the picture.

My south Philly friend with a desk nearby, has fighter jets for his calendar and B52s on bombing runs. Peaceful sort of fellow.

These are old fashioned Italian men, raised and pampered by mom, and future dominators of all women folk. Need I go on?

Are they all petty dictators, what else can you say, listen to the language. Maybe it is a Mediterranean thing, I know Greeks that are the same.

Girls you are in trouble now.

My wife? Too late for my wife living with a liberal all these thirty plus years has spoiled her, she thinks she has a mind and life of her own and freedom too. The nerve of some.

Calling all woman in America, you need to move to Europe or at least Canada. Good luck.

I understand liberals want Judges who create laws from the bench, and go with current polls to rule on what is constitutional and what is not

The libs worst nightmare is a Judge who bases their rulings on the US Constitution, and not on their personal beliefs

Without your so called liberal judges there would be even less freedom for Americans - for women and for minorities especially, but that is a subtlety that passes over your head.

Thanks to liberal Judges the government can take your home for public development. Liberal Judges have tossed out the votes of the people when they vote against gay marriage. Liberal Judges have ordered laws to be created

This is what the left wnats the courts to be. An avenue for their liberalsim to be imposed on the people when they can't accomplish it in the legislature

I just thought I'd reiterate that Obama stopped himself from saying that Thomas didn't have enough EXPERIENCE to be on SOCTUS. In fact, he had much more experience for the position than Obama has for President.

Is Obama aware of Justice Thomas's background? Where is Justice Thomas lacking experience?

he knew what kinda flood gate that wold open about himself...or just just realized that it was above his pay-grade to judge the level of experience for SOCTUS.

Not too mention most polls illustrate that people understand he does lack experience.
