This is outrageous. Communication is too important to trust to a private entity. The internet should be placed under public control.

Last month, Comcast was ordered by the Federal Communications Commission to disclose its current and future network management practices and to stop blocking Internet traffic by the end of the year. The company had been blocking users of peer-to-peer networks by delaying their accessing to certain Web sites such as BitTorrent and others.

The cable giant quietly posted a new policy on its Web site, telling customers it has updated its "Acceptable Use Policy." Comcast (CMCSA: CMCSA 21.18, -0.48, -2.2%) told customers that starting on Oct. 1 it will set a new monthly usage threshold for customers, of 250 gigabytes a month of data usage, for all Comcast residential customers.

Comcast sets usage cap for Internet users (http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/comcast-quietly-sets-usage-cap/story.aspx?guid={1F49F282-E1D5-40AC-A603-BA4E6576BFA0})

yes and the fairness doctrine, he wants to wipe out any viewpoint that does not comport to his twisted view

anyways....the government did its job by telling comcast they could not operate their ISP that way. great. done. no more government. that is what government is for, to benefit society and stop some ISP that controls your hood from dictating your internet usuage sites. why in the hell would JS want the government to now control all of the internet? the governmnet did its job. period.

How on the hell would government be able to control the internet? It would have to overtake every single commerical communications company. Do you have any idea how "the internet" even works? :poke:

Yes indeed. This would mean that the government would have to purchase every ISP in the country, and every Telephone outfit as well. Billions and Billions, and no means to maintain it - unless, of course, you somehow got us telecom people sold on being Fed employees.

I can't even begin to imagine the howls that would erupt from Joey about Big Brother if this were to be implemented.

I think I can hear him shrieking now. Oh, wait... that was my cat's tail under my chair.

Be careful of what you wish for, young Joey.

so you want the goverment controling the Internet. And you think that's better than companies that you can pressure through boycott ect. Not possible with the goverment, giving them the power to control the Internet is quite easily the worst idea I have heard in weeks.
