By J. Robert Smith
Democrats and the left generally can no more accept a Sarah Palin vice presidency than they could Clarence Thomas as a Supreme Court justice. They can no more accept a conservative woman a heartbeat away from the presidency than they can a conservative African-American interpreting the nation's laws. Expect the long knives to be out, and stay out.

Since the Clarence Thomas nomination fight in 1991, conservatives and fair-minded Americans have learned a bitter lesson: for liberals, it isn't about promoting the advancement of all African-Americans, but only those in step with their ideology and aims. The same can be said of women. Liberals believe they own the franchise, and it doesn't allow for baby-making, gun-friendly, God-fearing women, who, not incidentally, fight for lower taxes, smaller government and a strong national defense. They certainly can't be Republicans.

Excellent article Stephanie and it does a great job of pointing out the ageist, racist, genderist hypocrisy of the advancement ideology left. The onl advancement ideology they will apply is to liberals.

And I think that until this rank hypocrisy stops, the polarization of this country will continue to escalate.

Of course it will.

Where did we ever become such haters? I remember when I was a kid and at baseball games my grandpa had his favorite group he would always sit with at the end of the bleachers to watch my games.

There were about 6 or 7 of them, they would yap about politics, education and items of the day. I can specifically remember that didn't agree on things, it was sort of a once or twice a week debate club. I do remember however how each occurance would end. All of them would shake hands, smile, maybe make a joke about the other's philosophy........you know. Then on the way home the old man would mention the one who had stimulated him the most in their conversations. Usually even though it would be the one who had disagreed with him most adamently, he would compliment him and say he was going to pray for him.

We of course lost that wonderful trait within ourselves way back there in the 60's. As any news follower can denote, today's discussions have become hatefilled rhetoric and inuendo. It's just what we do. It's really too bad because we used to accomplish things we can't today along the lines of compromise.

Hell, watch the next SOTU. Our politicians will sit there like mummies. If it is their man, they will clap, if not, well you know. Watch JK's, everyone clapped. Maybe not with as much enthusiasm, but they respected the president's job.

When we were growing up, you didn't insult the president of the United States. My grandfather, an avid Goldwater man, cried like a baby the day JK was assasinated. I remember it like it was yesterday. My big huge grandpa.........was crying like a baby. This was a man who pulled stumps out the ground with a body harness. He was a giant! He picked up rattlesnakes by the tail and flung them into the irrigation ditch at our home in Phoenix. He didn't cry! He took it personal that our president had been shot. He looked at it exactly the way most all Americans saw it at the time. A huge failure by us all. We had allowed our president to be shot and together we had ALL lost our president.

Today I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that if such an occurance took place, within minutes, some asshole would post something on here about how he deserved it. Much in the likeness that folks posted anti-American posts after 9/11.

I have not seen a Liberal yet on here who can over an elongated period of time, actually discuss issues without resorting to made up rhetoric and lies. I almost choked this morning reading what Gab wrote about Sarah Palin's child. I have read some Underground stuff this am and these folks actually convince themselves it is true. Given that her daughter is actually pregnat now and mathmatically could not have bore the child has no affect. NONE!

We've lost it folks! Our grandparents died with something we will never have. There isn't a word for it however it isn't in us! The thing that made our country what it was through the 20th century is gone! THAT is a defeat we will not overcome.

We need to take a close look at ourselves boy! A real close look!

I wish I could have seen what it was like back then. I dont think it's going to get better in my life time. But who knows. Maybe something good will happen.

Our country is headed the way of Europe..

all of the blood that was spilled for our freedoms is going to be a waste here soon..the commies, liberals and socialist have thoroughly brainwashed the children of today, that we suck and need to be taken down..and taken down from within is what is happening..

The United States of America..was a great country..
It will be sad to say goodbye to her...:salute:

Sure there's a word for it...RESPECT. I will agree it was lost many years ago. On the other hand many of us still employee it on a daily basis.

so are you hence claimng that you can not be a liberal or a socialist and have respect? You are equating a loss of respect and the advance of the left, while both may be happening it would be wrong to presume that one is the consiquence (spelling?) of the other and vice-versa

Emmett, I was going to say that the word you are searching for is "integrity". It's rare as hens teeth these days. I could give dozens of examples, but I think I'll just leave it at that.

Why would anyone with common sense respect the positions of liberals and socialists? They hate everything that made this country great. They hate personal freedoms protected by the constitution, they loath the idea of self responsiblity of individuals as oppossed to dependancy on government, and they can't stand the idea of giving power to the people instead of the elite few.
