How reliable is the photo?

If it's not faked, then why was the person in the locomotive cab taking pictures instead of trying to stop his train, signal, or even bail out?

OK, your link says that the pic was from investigators "re-creating" the collision. You didn't mention this in your post.

In other words, it WAS faked.
