For a while there, it was looking like Karl Rove had bamboozled enough voters into thinking that Sarah Palin was "a breath of fresh air."

If you haven't seen her interview with Katie Couric on the CBS Evening News, go to YouTube and search for it. She is shockingly....embarrassingly...out of her depth. She looks like a deer caught in a semi truck's headlights.

And McCain.....he's pulling out of the debate because of an economic crisis brought on by a clueless, incompetent Republican administration and his own support for de-regulation over the last 20+ years?

Aren't the debates supposed to determine who is better equipped to handle crises like this?

Who is advising him? Chuckles the Clown?

Thank God for Republican stupidity and incompetence. It's carried them through the last 8 years, but it looks like the stupid train is finally running out of steam.

let me see if i understand this. You think someone getting up and asking predetermined questions determines how someone can handle a crisis better than actually handling a crisis??

GW - when you're elected as a Governor or Senator, I'll even entertain the thought you have AS MUCH ability and intelligence as those you berate. Liberals Attack things they fear most - such as Truth and Wisdom and Character. Liberals vote for "People with nice personalities!" :-/

McCain isn't "handling" jack shit. He's one out of 100 senators. What is he going to do? Single-handedly rescue the economy he's helped to screw up? He's doing political posturing, trying to pretend he's "above politics."

As for the debate, it's supposed to show who's better qualified to be president. Given the spectacle of McCain's withdrawal, I'd say the debate has accomplished its purpose, wouldn't you?

He is going to be organizing and leading his supporters in the Senate and is going to be leading some of the negotiating. I dont see how you can possibly say he isnt doing anything.

Whether it fixes anything thats another issue altogether. But you have the perfect example of someone who is doing something and the other who is talking about doing it.

My fear was that enough gullible voters would be taken in by the incompetence of the McCain/Palin ticket. But fortunately, McCain is self destructing and Palin is revealing herself as little more than a hockey mom with (misplaced) national ambitions.

You are really losing it man. How the heck is Senator McCain doing his job and showing leadership a bad thing?? How the heck is doing what's right his camapaign self destructing. Your accusations make absolutely no sense to any sane person. There isnt a person alive who can possibly argue that McCain's Campaign is falling apart. I mean hell Obama should be wiping the floor with McCain and yet he can barely maintain an edge in the polls that are being heavily weighted to him. How the hell is that falling apart?

I think you are delusional man. I dont say that lightly.

How the heck is Senator McCain doing his job and showing leadership a bad thing??

He isn't showing leadership OR doing his job. His JOB is to run for president. Instead he jumped on his horse and is riding madly around in all directions at once.

There isnt a person alive who can possibly argue that McCain's Campaign is falling apart.

Millions and millions are arguing that right now as we speak, and I'm one of them. McCain is erratic and a pop-off --------- suspended his campaign in late September??? Like crazy Perot did???? He should just suspend his campaign right on down the road, retire to Sonoma, AZ like the rest of the snowbirds. He IS 72, after all, well past retirement age.

I mean hell Obama should be wiping the floor with McCain and yet he can barely maintain an edge in the polls that are being heavily weighted to him.

The spread of averaged polls since 9/18 (http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/us/general_election_mccain_vs_obama-225.html)is +3.2 in favor of Obama, and some of the latest polls are showing big moves to Obama.
If you look at the link, you'll see a WHOLE lot of blue and only one red poll: a +1 for McCain.

Obviously McCain's candidacy is falling apart. And why? Because he's making a bunch of idiot moves: Choosing a woman too stupid to succeed him as president, suspending his campaign in late September, for God's sake, to go to Washington where nobody wanted him anyway and work for a bailout his conservative constituents hate, while abruptly cancelling a debate that was being planned and set up for tomorrow evening!

Erratic, confused. I thought he was okay before, mentally, but I am beginning to think now that McCain is past it.

Last time I checked, Senator McCain's job was Senator from the state of Arizona. That responsibility has not disappeared simply because he is running from President. And I dont see how anyone can say that going to Washington to take place in and lead the measures to pass significant legislation is doing nothing.

You guys are simply delusional.

I don't know that the result of all this is going to end up being good for the country because there is no finalized bill but to argue that he isnt doing anything and he is following apart because he is doing something is the stupid thing ive ever heard. It's wishful thinking that somehow McCain's campaign is falling apart while Obama's campaign is perfectly alright with Biden gaffing multiple times a day, Clinton undermining the Obama campaign, polls being released showing a third of white Democrats are racists and not voting for Obama.

And what reasons do you have for claiming McCain is falling apart? He shows leadership and is going to do something. Holy Crap! Its the end of his campaign. And he picks a VP candidate who is more qualified to run the country than the Democrat Presidential candidate. Holy crap he must be falling apart.

All i need is a Rosie ODonnell clip where she says "Delusional!" to make my point any stronger.

An agreement has already been reached in Washington. McCain looks like an idiot who shoots from the hip and makes snap decisions.

Congress has a plan
Lawmakers agree on bailout principles to protect taxpayers and ensure oversight.

By Tami Luhby, CNNMoney.com senior writer
Last Updated: September 25, 2008: 2:36 PM ET

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Lawmakers have reached agreement on a bipartisan counterproposal to the Bush administration's $700 billion financial bailout plan.

Both parties and the House and Senate agreed Thursday to a set of principles on revisions to the rescue plan, which calls for the Treasury Department to buy up bad mortgage securities from banks in an effort to get them to lend again.

The proposal will help homeowners, curb executive pay packages at participating firms and provide oversight of Treasury's actions, said Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., a key architect of the congressional effort. He did not provide details but said lawmakers will sit down with Treasury officials to discuss it.

"We've reached a fundamental agreement on a set of principles, one, for taxpayers, which is tremendously important," Dodd said. "We're very confident we can act expeditiously."

Last time I checked, Senator McCain's job was Senator from the state of Arizona. That responsibility has not disappeared simply because he is running from President.

He couldn't just fly there and VOTE on something???

He has to stop his campaign for president and cancel the debate????

Darn.

The only other person to do this was Perot in 1992, and everyone agrees he was both crazy and a great disappointment to his supporters (me, for instance).

And I dont see how anyone can say that going to Washington to take place in and lead the measures to pass significant legislation is doing nothing.

Personally, I always thought running for president was "something." No? Not important? Okay, McCain doesn't think running for prez is important.

Noted.

It's wishful thinking that somehow McCain's campaign is falling apart while Obama's campaign is perfectly alright

It's not wishful thinking, it's the POLLS. The POLLS are turning wildly toward Obama, in big fat blue numerals. Like "4" and "6" and "3.5" even if you don't want to count that "9." Actual data is better than wishing. Well, it means more, anyway.

polls being released showing a third of white Democrats are racists and not voting for Obama.

McCain could have made something of this point if he would have acted reasonably SANE instead of this senility gig.

I'm sorry, white does not make up for senile.

And what reasons do you have for claiming McCain is falling apart? He shows leadership and is going to do something. Holy Crap! Its the end of his campaign.

Exactly. It's the end of his campaign. That's the problem. Suspending his campaign????? He doesn't want to run anymore, doesn't want to debate, is waving and riding off into the sunset?????? You don't think this shows a certain, ah, lack of persistence?

And he picks a VP candidate who is more qualified to run the country than the Democrat Presidential candidate. Holy crap he must be falling apart.

He's falling apart all right: polls show the public's opinion of Sarah Palin has fallen like a rock since the GOP convention. Joe Biden is polling much better than Sarah Palin. I reported all that on another thread. People are not as dumb as McCain thought --- they know she's not up to being president.

It is clear these weird decisions --- Palin and suspending his campaign and cancelling the debate --- are wholly John McCain's decisions, not his staff (which is probably totally aghast and being sedated). So there it is --- McCain went senile on us.

Game over.

Too bad, really. I was for McCain in 2000, voted for him in the Maryland Republican primary election. That was when he should have been president; he was okay then, could have kept us out of all this awful stuff that happened afterward with Bush in there.

He just got too old.

Millions are discussing their amazement that Lindsey Lohan is dating an ugly as shit lesbian, probably the very same imbeciles you are talking about....... who could possibly give a shit what you and others like you are texting to each other.
It's Sedona dumb ass, one of the most incredible places on the planet. Sonoma is in Northern California..... wine country. Do you know what the word suspend means? He isn't quitting, he is stopping the rubber chicken dinners and the speeches for however long it takes to get the job he was elected for done. He is acting Presidential unlike the boy that is still stuck in primary mode. Obama is enjoying his trips away from that nasty assed wife of his too much, playing around with his groupies must have him forgetting what he was elected for.

You calling Sarah Palin stupid is beyond preposterous, on a bad day without any sleep and suffering a stroke, she would still be infinitely more intelligent than you. You are so misinformed that I find it hard to believe that you can even turn on your computer....... who does it for you?

Erratic, confused. I thought he was okay before, mentally, but I am beginning to think now that McCain is past it.

His daughter is 23 and said she needed to drink Red Bull all day to keep up with him. Again, you accusing anyone of being erratic and confused is a joke, you are the definition of erratic and confused.
