too bad our reps can't trust phone calls from the citizens because people dishonestly use phone banks decieve the reps into believing that more people feel a certain way...when in reality that is not true

BTW, the Dow is now TANKING after the bill was passed. It was up around 250 points a few minutes ago, now it is up by 100

Two reasons: One it's Friday and typical to take profits. Two they pushed the market up from the opening in anticipation of the bailout passing. They have taken some profits and will probably push it back up a bit before the close.

Watch out for Monday though after they have time to digest the bill and decide if they really like it.

I heard that as well. It is outrageous. I am not so concerned about bankruptcy judges adjusting interest rates, as I believe bankruptcy court judges have been able to do that for a long time, but simply saying that Mr. & Mrs. Smith's mortgage is too high for them at $250,000 so the judge can reduce it to $45,000 is preposterous!

Unless of course... I can find a judge... no. that is just plain wrong.

Does that include interest on credit cards and the likes?

I had thought that a bankruptcy judge can adjust interest rates on credit card debt. Then again, I am pretty sure that if you file bankruptcy (not reorganization) your debt can be fully eliminated so that would included the principle as well.

Chapter 13 which is commonly referred to as debt consolidation is essentially a repayment plan on the balance of debt (it is a bankruptcy). Interest stops accumulating when the case is filed (with the exception of student loan interest)...No adjustments by a Judge though..the amount repaid in percentage determined by the U.S. bankruptcy guidelines. It could be 100%, I've seen 4.5%.

Chapter 7..wipes most unsecured debt away but the Law does not always allow one to file a 7 due to assets or income so a 13 is the only option. That's a part of the new law I love and hate.

Also, I fail to understand how adding $150 BILLION in "sweeteners" caused more to vote for it. Its like going to a car dealership and being shocked by the sticker price, and as you're running off the lot the saleman jacks up the price by 10 grand in order to win you over. With OCA, I think is nothing more then a temper tantrum. It seems his ego is bruised, and he is pisses over Hillary losing. He says the nomination was stolen from her; as libs say when they lose elections

So OCA now has a scorched earth policy where he wants to take down the entire Republican party regardless of what unchecked liberalism will do to the nation in 4 years

To Steve and Peter's Points [Andy McCarthy]

1. Peter, I'm sure — or maybe President Bartlett will appoint a commission to investigate the predatory lending that caused this crisis.

2. I would just add the following to Steve's excellent "How to explain Fannie & Freddie simply and in 30 seconds or less":

Executive compensation:

Franklin Raines (Obama adviser and Fannie CEO 1999-2004): $90 million

Jim Johnson (Obama adviser and Fannie CEO 1991-1998): $21 million in 1998 alone — which, as Byron has detailed, was initially concealed from the public) (I haven't been able to find, in a quick search, how many more millions he made from 1991-1997)

Jamie Gorelick (former Clinton administration Deputy AG & Fannie vice chair 1998-2003): $26 million.

Campaign Contributions

Barack Obama, though only in the Senate since 2004, took in $126,349 from Fannie & Freddie (second only to Sen. Chris Dodd, $165,400 — whose collections go back to 1989).

Taxpayer Liability Increase

Potentially $5 trillion.

You've never had smoke blown up yer skirt, Immie?

As RSR eludes it's his party mfm or any other left-winger loves, he/they just mistakenly equate that with love of Country. They wouldn't know "LOVE OF COUNTRY" if it slapped em in the face..If you think I'm wrong explain the last 8 years of obstruction, lies and general disruption toward the current administration.

I honestly think you are wrong in your assessment of him. I realize everyone here except me hates the man. But I don't think he has the hatred that he portrays on site, in person. I imagine that if you went to Maine and walked into his church wearing a "McCain/Palin" T-shirt and didn't announce yourself as Mr. P, and definitely did not say you were Red States Rule, that he would welcome you with open arms. If you happened to get in a political discussion, I imagine he'd be a gentleman and give his point of view, listen to yours. The when the discussion was done you two would shake hands and he'd invite you out for lobster and probably a beer.

I also think that if conservatives on site treated him like a human being rather than a computer monitor that writes back to them that there would be a lot less animosity on site. In fact, maybe so much less that the site would actually be boring.

The same goes for every other liberal (JS being the one exception) who dares post here. If conservatives treated them like human beings, I mean realized that there is a human being that they are conversing with on the other side of the internet, the discussions here would be much more factual/informative and much less in your face. But then none of us would post here because it would be boring.

Immie, many people have reached out to him. Martin is the one who did it for the longest time, and has finally given up.

MFM is a piece of garbage, and can't be reasoned with. He has nothing but contempt for people, and I do beleive he is a liar when he says he gives sermons

Unless, his church is similar to Obama's where racist hate and extreme liberalism is preached from the pulpit

I just found out that Steve Chabot did not vote for this bill....I knew we could count on him. I think he is the only true conservative left in Ohio. Great guy, comes to small town parades and talks to people.

A guy on Hannity and Colmes said it best last night(can't remember his name, but he's on a lot... a Democrat). He said this bill was passed because our government leaders think we are too lazy too care,or aren't paying attention,or just plain don't understand this because they think we are too stupid.

It's really a big disappointment. I was think if McCain would have taken a firm stand against this and shown he could be a leader and stand up against Washington,he would have had a better chance of winning this election.

Wait a minute,Steve Chabot isn't the lone conservative in Ohio...I forgot about Ken Blackwell, our former Sec of State.:coffee:

This bill is a ripoff Krisy. The only wayt it passed, was Dems added billions of pork, so they could bribe enough Dems to change their vote

Of course these are the same Dems who whine how you and I have to pay more in taxes for reasons of fiscial responsibility

True, but more Dems changed their votes. There was still over 100 "NO" votes from Republicans

When I heard about the pork,I was even more furious. How could they do this....I mean throwing all this pork in when three fourths of Americans didn't even want the bill by itself, let alone the pork. I will remember this at election time. The American people need to make these guys pay at election time, and continue to let them know via e mail and phone calls that they are NOT happy.

Well prepare for a nightmare if Obama wins and has the Pelsoi.Reid Congress. Get ready for more taxes, more spending, and alot more pork

The only thing that may cushion the blow is if Dems do not get 60 votes in the Senate. Perhaps Republicans will grow a pair and stop some of the insanity from becoming law

Vote out all the incumbents in the house. With few exceptions. And get rid of any incumbent senator running this year. The voters have to show them we are taking notes. Ignore us at your own peril.
