Obama has 3-point national lead on McCain

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama has a narrow 3-point lead in the U.S. presidential race on Republican John McCain less than a month before the election, according to a Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll released on Tuesday.

Obama leads McCain among likely U.S. voters 48 percent to 45 percent in the national poll, which has a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points. Four percent of voters said they were still undecided.

The survey, the first in a series of daily tracking polls that will sample public opinion until the November 4 election, showed Obama with an advantage among the crucial swing voting blocs of independents and women.

"Obama is leading among the key target groups, but this race is nowhere close to over," pollster John Zogby said. "The deal is far from closed."

The presidential rivals meet in the second of their three scheduled debates on Tuesday in Nashville, Tennessee. The poll was taken Saturday through Monday, after the debate between vice presidential candidates Republican Sarah Palin and Democrat Joe Biden.

CBS Poll: Presidential Race Tightens
Survey Shows Obama Leading McCain 47 Percent To 43 Percent Among Registered Voters Nationwide Following V.P. Debate

(CBS) In a sign that the race for president has returned to about where it was before the first presidential debate, the Obama-Biden ticket leads the McCain-Palin ticket 47 percent to 43 percent among registered voters in a new CBS News poll.

The Obama-Biden ticket led by a wider margin, nine percentage points, in a CBS News poll released last Wednesday, before Joe Biden and Sarah Palin faced off in the vice presidential debate. Obama-Biden led by five percentage points on Sept. 25.

In the new poll, the Democratic ticket leads by 3 percentage points, 48 percent to 45 percent, among likely voters.

Barack Obama holds a 20 point lead in terms of enthusiasm. Fifty-eight percent of Obama voters say they are very enthusiastic about their candidate, while only 38 percent of John McCain voters say the same about the Arizona senator.

Roughly one in five registered voters have yet to commit to a candidate, though they may lean towards one or the other.

The polls will remain close no matter how the debates go. The only way they will change is if the media seriously digs into obamanations past and friends. And we all know that will never happen.

As unpopular Pres Bush is, and the way the media are in the tank for Obama -there is no way this election should be close

This should tell you that many peoople have doubts about Obama.

Actual average of all American polls taken can be found here

Shows Obama with a comfortable margin nationally and leading in all but 1 battleground state including an 11 point lead in RSR's home state of Pennsylvania.....Pennsylvanians are true patriots.

Guess RSR was trying to mislead everyone? Nah.....couldn't be.

Mrs. Wasilla got trounced at the debate, all polls clearly indicate that......"can we go back to energy please?":laugh2:
