Here is what I find interesting:

McCain was one of the two worst candidates Republican could have chosen. He doesnt excite any of the base. He is liberal on so much alot of us are still debating whether we really want to vote for him.

Yet Obama cant close the deal. He has economic turmoil, a bad Republican candidate, 8 years of supposed disappointment from President Bush, and yet he can't close the deal. Obama should be 15 points up. But he isnt.

Obama is the best the Democrats have and he cant even gain a serious lead over the worst Republican candidate they could have chosen.

Avatar makes some great points here.

So why isn't Obama up by more than he is? Granted there is still some time and he could be up by 15 come election day.

One important point is to recognize that Obama limped over the finish line in the primary. It is a good thing for Obama, that the dems have a whacky superdelegate system of electing their canidate.

because 10% of the voting public ain't voting for either of them and 40% of the remaining 90% of the voting public see him for what he is....

the reamaining 50% may well vote him into office and they will be stunned to find out who they really put in charge of their country.....

america will take another step towards socialism under obama.....a step we can not financially afford but we will do it anyway....because as obama said last night it is not fair that the poor and incompetent should have to suffer for their choices the rich need to suffer in their place.....

That 50% will not be stunned if they are the poor and incompetent that want Obama to make things "fair".

doubt the entire dem base will appreciate "re-education" ...... redistribution of wealth .... socialized medicine.....socailized "insert program of choice"....

i lived in a socailist country for a year or so.....very uninspiring.....

Never over estimate the American voter, consider the current incompetent, why would a McCain / Palin administration be any worse, or how could it be worse? Actually with a dummy like Palin it is possible to exceed dumbness.

Don't forget Al Gore? What would his response to 9-11 have been? and what would his wacko, green to the extreeme policy's have done to the US?

Imagine if Hillary was the canidate and not Obama, with all of the advantages that the dems have this election cycle she would be up huge in the polls. But Obama is struggling just as he did in the primary and there are no superdelegates in the electoral college.
