If Sarah Palin had made just one of the wildly inaccurate statements smugly uttered by Sen. Joe Biden in last week's vice presidential debate, there would have been 3-inch headlines in newspapers across America. (I can almost hear Katie Couric asking me, "Which newspapers?")

These weren't insignificant errors, such as when Biden said, "Look, all you have to do is go down Union Street with me in Wilmington or go to Katie's restaurant or walk into Home Depot with me where I spend a lot of time, and you ask anybody in there whether or not the economic and foreign policy of this administration has made them better off in the last eight years."

It turns out that Katie's restaurant, where Biden gets his feel for the average American, closed 20 years ago. The only evidence that he spends any time in Home Depot is that it appears that a pipe wrench fell on his head one too many times.

Palin would surely have been forced to withdraw from the ticket had she said something like that, but most of Biden's errors were not trifling mistakes like these. They were lengthy Lyndon LaRouche-like disquisitions that were pure fantasy from beginning to end.

She's just getting started, the rest is at the link....... :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

Just one of Coulter's lies:

Liberals find it hilarious that McCain can't use a computer keyboard on account of his war injuries...

No one ever said McCain's war injuries were the reason he can't send an email. No one ever said anything at all about his war injuries.

It just isn't so.

Umm... Obama's ads made fun of McCain for being 'out of touch' because he won't use a computer.

Biden himself said that had he known about the ad, it wouldn't have gone out.

If that shows the level of communication of the Osama/Binladen camp...excuse me, Obama/Biden campaign has between the P & VP candidates, I don't have much confidence in their ability to govern, aside from their socialistic views and indecisiveness.

You know, you were right. They didnt say that it was because of his war injuries that he couldnt use the keyboard. They left out that information because they knew it sounded better to claim that he was out of touch for being unable to use a computer.

You see if they were honest and told people why he couldnt, they would look petty and stupid.

You have to wonder what little joesteal is doing here at all. Refuting his lies is like shooting fish in a barrel. What does he think he's accomplishing by volunteering for target practice, time and again?

---------------------------------------------------

From the Boston Globe, March 4, 2000

http://graphics.boston.com/news/politics/campaign2000/news/McCain_character_loyal_to_a_fault+.shtml

McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain's severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain's encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He's an avid fan - Ted Williams is his hero - but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.

After Vietnam, McCain had Ann Lawrence, a physical therapist, help him regain flexibility in his leg, which had been frozen in an extended position by a shattered knee. It was the only way he could hope to resume his career as a Navy flier, but Lawrence said the treatment, taken twice a week for six months, was excruciatingly painful.

''He endured it, he wouldn't settle for less,'' said Lawrence, who rejoiced with McCain when he passed the Navy physical. ''I have never seen such toughness and resolve.''

That's not why he doesn't use a computer. Keying a computer isn't any more demanding than turning a steak on the grill or throwing the dice. According to reports, he does those things quite well.

He doesn't use computers because he thinks it's beneath him. In his day, typing was women's work. It wasn't for the elite. He's out of touch with 21st century America.

Q Is it true that John McCain's injuries as a result of being tortured as a POW are the real reason he does not send e-mails (using a keyboard is painful for him)? Or is Barack Obama's ad portraying him as a computer luddite true?

A: He can type. But using a keyboard for long periods is uncomfortable for him. He says he's been an "illiterate" on a computer. But he says now he's learning to use the Internet.

Is McCain unable to use a computer because of war injuries? (http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/is_mccain_unable_to_use_a_computer.html)

February 6, 2006

The Honorable Barack Obama
United States Senate
SH-713
Washington, DC 20510

Dear Senator Obama:

I would like to apologize to you for assuming that your private assurances to me regarding your desire to cooperate in our efforts to negotiate bipartisan lobbying reform legislation were sincere. When you approached me and insisted that despite your leadership's preference to use the issue to gain a political advantage in the 2006 elections, you were personally committed to achieving a result that would reflect credit on the entire Senate and offer the country a better example of political leadership, I concluded your professed concern for the institution and the public interest was genuine and admirable. Thank you for disabusing me of such notions with your letter to me dated February 2, 2006, which explained your decision to withdraw from our bipartisan discussions. I'm embarrassed to admit that after all these years in politics I failed to interpret your previous assurances as typical rhetorical gloss routinely used in politics to make self-interested partisan posturing appear more noble. Again, sorry for the confusion, but please be assured I won't make the same mistake again.

As you know, the Majority Leader has asked Chairman Collins to hold hearings and mark up a bill for floor consideration in early March. I fully support such timely action and I am confident that, together with Senator Lieberman, the Committee on Governmental Affairs will report out a meaningful, bipartisan bill.

You commented in your letter about my "interest in creating a task force to further study" this issue, as if to suggest I support delaying the consideration of much-needed reforms rather than allowing the committees of jurisdiction to hold hearings on the matter. Nothing could be further from the truth. The timely findings of a bipartisan working group could be very helpful to the committee in formulating legislation that will be reported to the full Senate. Since you are new to the Senate, you may not be aware of the fact that I have always supported fully the regular committee and legislative process in the Senate, and routinely urge Committee Chairmen to hold hearings on important issues. In fact, I urged Senator Collins to schedule a hearing upon the Senate's return in January.

Furthermore, I have consistently maintained that any lobbying reform proposal be bipartisan. The bill Senators Joe Lieberman and Bill Nelson and I have introduced is evidence of that commitment as is my insistence that members of both parties be included in meetings to develop the legislation that will ultimately be considered on the Senate floor. As I explained in a recent letter to Senator Reid, and have publicly said many times, the American people do not see this as just a Republican problem or just a Democratic problem. They see it as yet another run-of-the-mill Washington scandal, and they expect it will generate just another round of partisan gamesmanship and posturing. Senator Lieberman and I, and many other members of this body, hope to exceed the public's low expectations. We view this as an opportunity to bring transparency and accountability to the Congress, and, most importantly, to show the public that both parties will work together to address our failings.

As I noted, I initially believed you shared that goal. But I understand how important the opportunity to lead your party's effort to exploit this issue must seem to a freshman Senator, and I hold no hard feelings over your earlier disingenuousness. Again, I have been around long enough to appreciate that in politics the public interest isn't always a priority for every one of us. Good luck to you, Senator.

Sincerely,

John McCain
United States Senate

And if a letter/correspondence goes out from McCain, even if dictated to someone else who physically writes it, what's the difference?

Do you think any prior presidents had secretaries or the like write letters for them only for them to sign at the bottom? Do you think Obama has had any letters go out that he simply signed after someone wrote it for him?

No one wants to admit that McCain is a lifetime of failure. Even hard core right-wingers know that. Most Republicans despise McCain. But he is a better choice than the black guy.

Why would it be so different for McCain if a staff member wrote his correspondence for him and then he in turn signed at the bottom?

Because keying an email is easier and faster than having a letter typed for signature.

Not doing that is the mark of an elitist.

you say that about all Republicans. why the heck should we accept the premise simply because you say that?

and McCain is a better choice than Obama. Atleast with McCain I have some hope that the government wont be running my life.

But it doesnt matter. Because unfortunately, we will see violence soon.

But if one is in pain doing so, they should not be allowed to be president? Even if the pain was caused in service to his/her country?

McCain's pre-combat duty began when he was commissioned an ensign, and started two and a half years of training at Pensacola as a naval aviator.[14] While there, he earned a reputation as a partying man.[7] He completed flight school in 1960, and became a naval pilot of ground-attack aircraft, assigned to A-1 Skyraider squadrons[15] aboard the aircraft carriers USS Intrepid and USS Enterprise[16] in the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas.[17] McCain began as a sub-par flier[17] who was at times careless and reckless;[18] during the early-to-mid 1960s, the planes he was flying crashed twice and once collided with power lines, but he received no major injuries.[18] His aviation skills improved over time,[17] and he was seen as a good pilot, albeit one who tended to "push the envelope" in his flying.[18]

On July 3, 1965, McCain married Carol Shepp, a model originally from Philadelphia.[19] McCain adopted her two young children Douglas and Andrew.[16][20] He and Carol then had a daughter named Sidney.[21][22]

McCain requested a combat assignment,[23] and was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal flying A-4 Skyhawks.[24] His combat duty began when he was 30 years old, in summer 1967, when Forrestal was assigned to a bombing campaign, Operation Rolling Thunder, during the Vietnam War.[19][25] McCain and his fellow pilots became frustrated by micromanagement from Washington, and he would later write that "In all candor, we thought our civilian commanders were complete idiots who didn't have the least notion of what it took to win the war."[26][25]

By then a lieutenant commander, McCain was almost killed on July 29, 1967, when he was near the center of the Forrestal fire. He escaped from his burning jet and was trying to help another pilot escape when a bomb exploded;[27] McCain was struck in the legs and chest by fragments.[28] The ensuing fire killed 134 sailors and took 24 hours to control.[29][30] With the Forrestal out of commission, McCain volunteered for assignment with the USS Oriskany, another aircraft carrier employed in Operation Rolling Thunder.[31] Once there, he would be awarded the Navy Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star for missions flown over North Vietnam.[32]

All you have is insults for the woman that blows Home Depot's Joe Biden away point by point....... why do I picture you as the "see know evil" chimpanzee. You are obviously afraid to actually read what she says because it might force you to use the organ that resides in your head, between your ears. Your debating skill is as impressive as Home Depot's Joe Biden......... no very impressive at all. You and your son, joey steel, should get a room. The only thing Andy Coulter blows is bothways. As for reading remedial english I choose not to. Any **** that believesJoe McCarthy is a hero is not worth shitting on let alone read the puke she spews. Did I mention I don't like her?

You know what, to be honest, get tortured long enough, you'll break, that's just the way it is. When you stand up to what he went through, then you can talk. He did not betray, he held out as long as he could.

that said, he too often uses his mil experience as his top credential, and that bullshit maneuver with the bracelets where he decided to use it for a gain in the polls to use against Obama (Obama, btw, also on my shit list for this one, McCain just got the ball rolling).

As to the OP, Coulter is not an intellectual, and Michael Moore is not an intellectual. They are both helping to create a greater divide in america, and keep us from uniting. While yes, they have the right to free speech, it does not mean that what they say is useful, helpful, or in any way of intellect simply because they can hurl childish insults, and blame everything on "the other side". The quote marks are because there is no other side, there is only one here in America: The American side, where we are encouraged to disagree, and obliged to debate one another intelligently, and I've see that from neither one of them.

Sending an email is like being able to write a letter. If McCain won't do it, it means he's out of touch. We can't have a president like that.

That's what his secretary or whomever is for. Good grief! No wonder this country is in the mess it is today. Who cares about this petty crapola?
