VFW endorses Lampson over GOP rival, fellow veteran
NRA also says it is supporting the Democrat

The political arm of Veterans of Foreign Wars on Saturday endorsed Democratic U.S. Rep. Nick Lampson, who did not serve in the military, over Republican challenger Pete Olson, a former Navy pilot and Pentagon liaison. Also, the National Rifle Association made its backing of Lampson official, months after signaling its support of his legislative votes for gun ownership rights.

The backing of the two mostly conservative groups dovetails with Lampson's attempts in the 22nd District campaign to be seen as a middle-of-the-road lawmaker. Olson portrays him as a liberal representing a conservative district. Lampson accepted the VFW endorsement at an ceremony in front of a U.S. Air Force airplane fuselage in the parking lot of the American Legion Hall on Old Galveston Road across from Ellington Field. Addressing about 25 veterans as cars and motorcycles roared by, Lampson said serving the district was his way of giving back to veterans who protected the nation.

Allen DeForde, leader of the VFW post in Pearland, said he voted for Republican Shelley Sekula Gibbs against Lampson in 2006, but is backing Lampson in the Nov. 4 election because of the congressman's legislative votes for veterans' benefits and his responsiveness to constituents. He said Lampson's actions outweighed the backgrounds of the candidates...........

"As a nine-year Navy Veteran and having served two tours overseas in the Pacific and Persian Gulf, I have great respect for all our veterans, particularly those who have served on foreign soil," Olson said. "Following this election, I look forward to being a dedicated advocate in Congress for veteran's health care, service related issues, and strengthening our military with the most advanced weaponry possible.".............

I don't think it is a big deal. Now if the NRA endorses Obama, THEN I know something will be wrong.

Lampson got an, "A" rating from the NRA. Me personally I still wouldn't vote him because of the Dem platform of being pro-abortion.

A Solidly pro-gun candidate. An "A" incumbent who has supported NRA positions on key votes. May also describe a non-incumbent "A" candidate (one not represented with an *) who has previously held other office and cast consistent pro-gun votes, or an "A" candidate who hasn't held office but has expressed strong support for NRA positions on Second Amendment issues. It should be noted that a "non-incumbent" candidate may have been awarded the "A" rating due solely to their responses on the NRA-PVF candidate survey.

The left would like you to believe that the NRA and VFW are shallow organizations that blindly follow the right. The NRA is a political rights organization and will support candidates that honor the United States Constitution and our Bill of Rights. Too bad that democrats themselves don't support more of the Constitution but who needs it huh when you got Obama!

I assure you the DNC and especially his home state Dem Party will vacate this jack ass like a bad cold! He is a playcater actually, check out some of his other voting.

In Georgia, we had a democratic Governor who supporter gun ownership. We also had the first city in America to make it the law that all homeowners had to have a gun in house. That's right.....Kennesaw, Georgia. The land of no burglery! The governor was of course the honorable Zell Miller, a true Democrat, not this new wave fag loving tax you to death socialistic press pandering shit you see now! Of course you remember "Give em Hell" Zell as being the man who crossed party lines and comitted political suicide to support George Bush in 2004 because at the time he felt it was the right thing to do. Imagine....a politician with conscience.

And no Demmies.....I did not support the War so don't even go there. I admire anyone who sticks up for what they think is right with real conviction and not just a political agenda.

The NRA is afirst rate organization and it's support of Lampson will assure his victory.

The NRA is nearly always villanized by the left in this country yet they are only out to fight for the rights of ALL Americans guaranteed by our Constitution.

I did a little more checking. In 6 western states the NRA is backing 42 Democrats over their Republican opponents.

I'll know the end has come when NOW supports a male Republican over a female Democrat.

Any Republican that doesn't care about Veterans or gun rights is part of the movement to the left within that party. Republicans have become far too liberal and abandoned their conservative roots, hence why they lost the last election....

ARLINGTON, VA -- McCain-Palin 2008 today announced that twenty-one past National Commanders of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) have endorsed John McCain for President. The individuals endorsing John McCain hail from 18 different states, including Colorado, Ohio, Missouri, North Carolina, Wisconsin, New Hampshire and Illinois. Also included on the list is New Jersey native George Lisicki, who just last month stepped down as VFW Commander-in-Chief.

Osama attacks McCain but fails to sway VFW crowd

Many veterans left the hall after Obama's speech with frowns on their faces.

"You don't want to know what I think," said one.

"I don't have anything nice to say," said another.

The NRA is one of the fineswt institutions of rights activism in our nation, they never sway, they represent the same old solid message and hold fast to the beliefs it represents every time....never fail!
