The great debate of 08 seems to be how the government can best help the economy, how should the citizen and federal government interface best to help the entire population to move toward progress or the American dream.

The discussion of Robin Hood tactics from the McCain point of view of Obama and the give the fat cat a break from the Obama point of view of McCain's plan are rather hard to understand. Should the government be involved at all when it comes to employment progress? Or should all things be made fair? What's fair, when it comes to progress and who should define fair? An example of fair could be a dark blue state doing away with property tax that supports schools and then establishing a business tax along with a sales tax to support schools, then distributing the tax money equally to all classrooms regardless of hood equally. Then to be fair perhaps the poorest in the state would be given a cash rebate for the large portion of sales tax to their income. Would this be fair?

Another way to approach fair from a dark red state point of view could go like this: Offer any company that decides to open business in the state a tax free status, offer that company free electricity, water and sewage and tax the citizens in the state to pay the companies electricity, water and sewage. If all citizens don't have ample employment opportunity then offer even more incentives to business to locate to your state.

McCain says he wants to reduce tax on business because it will encourage business to employee Americans, this kinda matches up to the Red State analogy. Obama wants to tax business and give money from the businesses to those who don't have as much as others, including those running the businesses.

Question for debate:

Which approach explained above will serve to help the "entire" population to move toward progress and the American dream?

Edited to add an afterthought: If Obama says he wants to give the middle class a tax break at the expense of the upper income folks then why not just say I want to increase the minimum wage to $17 which would increase all wages. The reason he doesn't say this is because everyone knows if the minimum wage was raised to $17 everything would cost more. How do Americans not realize what he is saying will have the exact same result?

Exactly...if everyone's rich, no one is.
