"A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself from within." Will Durant

It appeared in a recent movie. Recognize it? What movie?

Almost seems appropriate to think about what we are doing to ourselves here in the U.S.A. don't it?

I wasn't to keen on seeing at first because of all the press it was getting when it came out. People saying it was a veiled commentary on the Bush administration and such turned me off, I was tired of that sort of babble. When I finally watched, I found it to be damn entertaining and more of a cautionary tale than anything else.

Not the movie I was thinking about. Are you kidding or did V for Vendetta have that quote as well?

Apocalypto.

Mel Gibson directed it.

Very good movie if you can get passed the subtitles.

For all his shortcomings, and they are many, Gibson is a damn fine director.

Of course, now I have to go borrow V for Vendetta again and see if the quote appeared there as well... Thanks a lot! :D

Mel? Shortcomings?

Except for his DUI and the idiotic slurs that followed, I don't know much about his private life. I rarely pay any attention to celebrity gossip.

Not only is he a good director, but he has acted in a few good movies as well.

Okay, maybe they aren't "many," but they can be ugly. And I agree, Immie, he is a very good actor as well. I enjoy his work very much.

Thank you, Kathianne. I have always found civility to berthe best foundation for any relationship. Digital or otherwise.

Thank you, Kathianne. I try my best, but often find myself a failure.

I am sure that there are people out there who do not like him, that can remind us of many of his faults. For instance, someone might say he's a religious nut because he produced a movie about the Crucifixion of Christ.

Thank you, Kathianne. I have always found civility to berthe best foundation for any relationship. Digital or otherwise.

It sure makes being here a lot more enjoyable. Why come here just to slander others and be slandered yourself? I don't find that fun at all... maybe because I'm not really good at it?

Mostly agree, but I thought Conspiracy Theory was horrendous. Not because of his acting, just in general.

Also, I like Lethan Weapon 4 as much as 1 or 2.

Mad max was ok but didn't care any of the others.
