I just got this in my email from an old friend. I find it enlightening, troubling but enjoyable nonetheless. I hope you all find it worthy of just a bit of your attention.

Explain It Again - BUT ... REAL ... S-L-O-W ...

… ‘cause I’m having a R-E-A-L problem understanding the concept.

And that leads me to believe that one of two things is going on here: (1) I am extremely slow on the up-take, or (2) you are not making any sense.

I appreciate the whole our guy lost thing – a circumstance that, by its very nature, is bound to incite anger, encourage a desire for revenge, and lead otherwise decent and intelligent people to glut themselves on sour grapes to the point of losing all common sense – along with their sense of perspective.

But what I am still struggling to understand is this whole anti-Christ thingy that’s been attributed to Democrats and liberals for decades, an epithet now squarely aimed at our president-elect, Barack Obama, with a vengeance that I seem to remember – and please, correct me if I am wrong – was once His and His alone – or so sayeth, or speaketh, or whatevereth the Lord God Almighty (who some pseudo-Christians might still vaguely recall from some sermon they heard in a land long ago and faraway, in the time before Jesus and his teachings became available in the Xtreme DVD edition, complete with extras, out-takes, and behind-the-scenes footage never before aired in the churches of the nation) might have said, at one time or another, when the MSM wasn't there to report it.

Yep, still strugglin’ here – struggling to understand how speaking up for middle-class workers and their right to a decent wage is an affront to the Sermon on the Mount (and if you haven’t checked it out lately, it’s worth a second read).

Still struggling to understand how promoting affordable healthcare for every American is a direct slap-in-the-face to the Nazarene, who pointed out that we are our brother’s keeper – and whether we’d applied for the job or not, it was expected that we’d at least give the idea some serious thought – and maybe even a little bit of effort.

Still strugglin’ here – trying to comprehend how the same people who claim to love The Man (ya know, the one who admonished His followers that as they do to the least among them, so they do unto Him) can’t get their heads around the concept of feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless as something good Christians do and not as something you can slap the label of socialism on and dismiss out-of-hand, just because you’re looking for a loophole to crawl through without parting with a dime (and I’ll be damned if the right-wingers aren’t danglin’ that loophole – which has a strong resemblance to a noose – in front of every last greedy soul still lookin’ for a legal argument to present on Judgment Day.)

Still tryin’ – and not without a lot of effort – to comprehend how talking about diplomacy as a means to avert war, putting social safety-nets in place to catch the least among us, ensuring that an honest day’s work equals an honest day’s pay, encouraging dialogue rather than fingers-in-your-ears silence/ignorance, and promoting peace and understanding is anti-Christ behavior – but I am trying.

Maybe I’m the one who’s got it all wrong – and I am humble enough to accept that possibility. But it seems to me that putting our trust in the guy who is willing to encourage an entire nation – if not the entire world – to walk in the other guy’s shoes, and truly appreciate what he needs, is a step in the right direction.

It’s kind of like walking in the Shoes of the Fisherman – who some (but apparently not all) will recall from a previously-viewed videotape that is crying out for rewinding these days.

So just walk it – and stop talkin’ it down. Because what you’re talking is nonsense, and the way you walk is what is ultimately going to count.

And deep down inside, you know it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

See what I mean?!?!?!?!??!??!?!?!?! Interesting observation, isn't it?!?!?!??!?!?!?

I didn't read all of that yet, but I remember several people who used to post here, one who has been permanently banned here and another who rarely posts anymore, who were absolutely convinced that George W. Bush was the Anti-christ.

I suppose the response I would have to the first part of that piece would be, "What Comes Around, Goes Around", or "What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun." Ecc 1:9.

Taking from people is stealing. Democrats tend to TAKE other people's money and doll it out ad nauseum to anybody who asks. That's not 'giving'. That's "taking." Did Christ support big-government forcibly taking money from some folk, to enable generations of poverty by making 'sitting home, doing nothing' more financially viable solution to many millions.

Democrat Steal and Give policies HURT everyone - except Democrats.

of course! That has nothing to do with welfare and forced-taking of folks' money being a CHRISTIAN thing. Christ was saying "If you're taxed...pay your taxes." it's not intellectually honest to use those passages to support the HARMFUL Democrat way of perpetuated poverty upon people by making them dependant upon Government "help".

because He knew that, until His kingdom came on earth, that man would sin and not follow His guidance.

"Whatever you do to the least of these, you do to me"

Ignore the poor: ignore Jesus.

Cesar was building empire with slaves and burning Christians for fun.

2Th 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
2Th 3:11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
2Th 3:12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

I understand why you don't want the Apostle Paul in your Bible. Its because he goes against your world view. Either you are right or the Apostle Paul is right. I think I will side with the Apostle Paul, every time.

I don't know about you but I give 20%-25% of my annual income to charities and those who are in need. If the government takes my money I may not be able to give to those who have real needs and where they money gets eaten up in administrative costs.

I'm not talking about rifling through my attic or garage to give away junk thats been laying around for 20 years to make myself feel better, thats just lame.

What insults are you talking about, yuk? I responded as best I could and you cannot be content with a reasonable conversation. That is no secret now and as far back as I can remember it has always been that way.

Are you confused/offended about the Sermon on the Mount, or is it the healthcare issue, or maybe the treatment of the least among us part or maybe it is the implication that many of the more self righteous among us condemn those with whom we disagree by accusing them of heresy or worse. I realize those are not direct quotes on my part but I hope you understand the paraphrasing. Hope against hope, however, you'll make another ridiculous argument and assertion and drift completely off topic as you are so prone to do.

I am heavily involved in both charities and governmental assistance programs and I hear the bullshit almost everyday and all day long. Good people suffer not because of unavailability of help but from the loud mouths and actions of people that don't have shit for sense and not a clue as to actual circumstanses.

Quote a passage that says anything about my being responsible to take care of lazy people. While you're at it, quote another passage that says it's my responsibility to rescue some asshole living beyond his means.

Just a week or so ago it was shown on the news a jackboot thug with a badge and a gun screaming at a man that was sitting down at a table and apparently wouldn't get up. The thug jerked the man out of the chair, threw him to the floor, struck him repeatedly all the while screaming and cursing. Only after considerable damage was done did the thug discover that the man was paralyzed from the waist down. But, that's really off topic, isn't it?

Accusing hard-working taxpayers of being reichwingers is a tactic used by commie-pinko-fag-liberals to steal money from working folks to give to lazy slimeballs.

Look, I have no problem helping out those who are indeed unable to take care of themselves. Able-bodied citizens don't merit a free ride.

As for the homeowners who over-extended themselves and find themselves unable to afford their house, I feel absolutely NO responsibility to bail them out. They made a mistake. Mistakes carry consequences. If that means they have to move into an apartment and sell their house, too bad. Their mistake shouldn't carry negative consequences for those of us who didn't screw the pooch.
