I don't think it's funny, and I don't care if it's only a word. History has given the word a negative connotation, and it's so negative because it continues to perpetuate the idea that people are not equal because of their skin color, regardless of who uses it. So your contension is that we should shouldn't talk about states rights, either, since that was what the Civil War was actually fought over (there were still slaves in the north, and it's funny how the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed not one single slave, came just about the time England was getting ready to step in on the side of the south), and not slavery, since that's what people "believe" it was about?

Actually, RSR, he wasn't talking about AQ when he talked about talking with people, and you would be making that point if he were a republican. He was talking about sitting down to talk with N. Korea, Iran, and those other countries that are not yet a direct enemy. Talking without "pre-conditions" is essentially rejecting the current thought process, which seems to be, "You're gonna do what I say or I'm not gonna talk to you no more!!" (foot stamping for emphasis).

I don't see it as such a big deal that they insulted him. I mean, seriously, he's an American president, that part kind of just goes with territory.
