We finally saw this movie last night, and really enjoyed it. The new Bond is tougher than most, and I liked that. I also liked how there were departures from the usual Bond stuff; Bond falling in love, and not caring if his martini was shaken or stirred, etc.

The scenery was gorgeous, and the Aston Martin's (?) engine sounded great over four speakers. :2up:

Yeah, they really went back to the Connery style 'true' Bond in this movie. Instead of all the tongue in cheek stuff, we have a serious, no-nonsense spy who never smiles and just gets the job done.

ugh..

That was one of the SINGLE WORST MOVIES I've ever seen. Ranks right up there with "Tank Girl".

Loved it. Best Bond flick that doesn't star Sean Connery.

I'm serious - I'm unsure how that movie made ANY Money. It kept jumping from climax to let down to climax and then nothing...the ending was particularly lame, IMO. :(

It made money because it was an actual spy flick, instead of the over-the-top comic book like crap James Bond movies had become. Just look at the last Bond movie, Die Another Day - a movie with villians changing their dna, a big laser coming from a satalite, and an invisible car. Casino Royal was the original Bond novel written by Ian Fleming, and was very refreshing to see the series take on a more serious tone. This bond movie made more box office than any other before it, and for good reason.

If the movie had ended after the casino scenes, I would have enoyed it.

Being a prequal, of sorts, it had to give Bond the backstory that shows why he trusts nobody, never truly falls in love, and is so serious about everything he does.
