The Israeli/Palestinian issue will not be solved, marteen. I have seen thousands of threads burned at the stake and several internet message boards completely overwhelmed and now dissappeared within these conversations. If present board management is wise they will end these unhealthy and unsolvable threads before they ever get started. DP has other and better things to talk about wherein we just might be able to have some effect and influence in changing.

Not to diminish your thoughts, marteen, but only to advise the impossibility to ever achieve anything productive within this issue on this level. The United States of America is a friend first and foremost to Israel. The United States of America will continue to protect and defend the rights and civiizations of Israel. The United States of America is committed and will remain so to the principles of Arab/Israeli reconciliation whether it ever actually happens or not.

Dig it?!????!??!?!??!?!?!?!

No, he's wrong;

Government mulling proposal to repair Muslim holy sites

By Yoav Stern

For the first time since Israel declared its independence in 1948, the government is considering renovating sites holy to Muslims that have laid abandoned and neglected for 60 years.

For the past few months, a ministerial committee on the Arab community in Israel has been debating the issue, considered by many to be of tremendous importance and sensitivity.

The initial phase of the plan entails renovating 12 particularly dilapidated sites, including Zidani mosque in Tiberias; Nebi Rubin mosque in Palmahim; al-Rabasiyeh mosque near the village of Sheikh Danun; Ein Zeitun mosque near Safed; Amka mosque near Amuka and Yavne mosque. Also, Muslim cemeteries in Be'er Sheva, Sidna Ali in Herzliya, Azur and Ashkelon will be renovated. Most of these sites are now in the middle of Jewish population centers and the Arab villages that once surrounded them have long disappeared.

If the ministerial committee decides to give the plan the go-ahead then it will commit the next government after the upcoming election to carrying it out, no matter what political coalition is formed. However, it is not yet certain whether the committee will act on the plan before elections are held.

Clearly, the original inhabitants were driven out. The 'Nakba' is remembered daily . These decent Israelis who are proposing renovating the muslim sites recognise the terrible catastrophe that Zionism brought to the region. Fortunately, the Palestinian right to their original homeland is enshrined in international law. That's why Zionists don't like international law and break it on a daily basis.

You don't seem to know anything about it at all. Any reputable historical source records that Palestine was home to both jews and muslims. It still is. Only Zionism, with its filthy doctrine of exclusivity, fouls the landscape.

where did i say, muslims have no right to live in israel?

you do know moon, that 20% of the israeli population is arab dont you?

That is the agenda. Haven't you been following events ? Do you know that the Zionists have made legislation whereby any lawmaker elected to the Knesset, primarily aimed at Arabs, has to swear allegiance to a jewish State and swear not to attempt to alter its jewish exclusivity ? What sort of a 'democracy' is that ? Answer- no democracy at all.
Zionism promised its followers the ethnic cleansing of Palestine and a Greater Israel for jewish exclusivity. It is still pursuing that course.

On the other hand, decent Israelis recognise the multicultural advantages of a mixed population. They aren't scared of the 20% of Israelis who are Arab and they oppose the brutal repression of the West Bank and Gaza, occupied Palestinian territories. Those territories would not be occupied today without blind support for illegal settlements from a succession of Zionist-influenced US administrations.
