LONDON, KY (AP) - The Pentagon says a 19-year-old Marine from Kentucky has been killed in combat in Iraq.
Lance Cpl. Thomas "T.J." Reilly Jr., of London, died Dec. 21 in Anbar province.
His mother, Gina Bray, told WKYT-TV in Lexington that her son went straight into the military after graduating from South Laurel High School last year.
Bray says she didn't want her son to go, but she didn't want to "crush his dreams."
She says Reilly was caught in a surprise attack and killed instantly.
Reilly was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
Funeral services have not yet been scheduled at London Funeral Home.
