Russia cuts European gas supply

Looks like Putin has decided that they are going to cut the natural gas supply this winter and make sure eastern Europe has no energy to warm their homes.

If Eastern Europe doesnt get their energy elsewhere things can easily narrow down to two options:

They decide they would rather fight for the energy than sit in their homes and die from the cold creating major international crisis.

or

They could capitulate to Russia and get their energy back at the cost of their freedom.

We're fine in the UK as most of our gas is of our shore, with only about 2% coming from Russia. But I feel for the eastern Block who can do next to nothing.

It seems the dispute has arisen as Russia claimed the Ukraine was stealing gas intended for Europe, and so they increased the cost if gas. The Ukraine have refused to pay and claimed that gas loss is coming from leaks in the line ect.
