View Full Version : I Will Not...

After enduring 8 years of immaturity at the hands of the left, there are certain things I will simply not do for the next...however long it takes. I will not...

...pretend that Obama is an idiot. Whatever else he is (I mean, he did emerge from the Illinois political machine, and you can't do that without being a least a little corrupt), he's not stupid.

...count the days until Obama leaves office, or at least not publicly, unless I do it as a joke or something.

...claim that Obama is 'not my president.' I live in the U.S. He is the duly, constitutionally elected president of the U.S. For better or worse, he is my president.

...blindly oppose (or support) anything Obama does without having thought the issue through (in which case it wouldn't be blindly, but I digress). Even Ted Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi have been known to have good ideas from time to time. If Obama has a good plan, I'll back him up.

...call for Obama's impeachment or prosecution based on policy decisions. If he does something illegal, he needs to be punished for it, but if he does something I don't like, well, that's what elections are for.

...claim Obama stole the election. Yes, there were shenanigans on election day, but I don't think Obama was personally responsible for them, and I don't think they significantly altered the outcome of the election.

...pretend Obama is a Muslim, not a U.S. citizen, or any other stupid label that is supposed to make me feel that he's illegitimate.

...care that he is black, aside from the obvious historical aspect that he is the first black president.

...use his connections to Ayers or Wright (however unconscionable) as automatic veto for anything he wants to do.

Feel free to add others.

I agree. I will not have a problem criticizing decisions I disagree with, but I will not use him as a punching bag for so many of his ignorant supporters.

As difficult as it is for me, I will not forget to pray for President Obama. I have actually put it my daily reminders for 1:00pm to pray for the mans safety, success (my ideas of success), and for God to give him wisdom. I also pray that God's will be accomplished through our president.

This has been very difficult for me to this point but I continue on none the less.

I respect all your opinions and you are probably more at ease in your mind than I am, but I will never acknowledge or accept him as my President. My flag still flies upside down and at half mast and will continue to do so.

And just like with the Bush-bashing morons, that's childish and stupid. He hasn't even DONE anything yet.

I will do my best to follow in Hobbit's footsteps. So Help Me God.

I will disagree with him at times and state so when I do, but he has earned the right to sit in the Oval Office and I will respect him for it.

okay, I don't think it's quite that bad. I mean, really, by the time the election rolled around, he was pretty much the same as McCain. That's still not good, but really, the only serious difference would have been the party of the president.

For my own part, I'm not happy with Obama, but then, I wouldn't have been happy with McCain either. I'll agree with the stuff I think he gets right, and disagree where I think he's doing it wrong, as per my responsiblity under the 1st Amendment.

He is the president. Duly elected. But that doesn't make him my president. He has done and said nothing to earn my respect or loyalty. I refer to him as the messiah, not the president, and will continue to do so as it is a slap at liberals as well as him. He gets my support only when he earns it, and I really don't expect him to do that. I do expect to sit back and watch the country go down the toilet. It's well on it's way.

I will not make the stupid remarks about him that we have seen here through out the years concerning Bush. The ignorant fools that voted for him deserve everything they get. And when they complain about it I am just going to smile.

Kiss your freedoms goodbye, the commies are in charge now.

Aside from the potential inaccuracies with his birth certificate, Hobbit, I agree. Even so, he's the President and will get the respect the office bestows upon him.

Then head for another country.

AMERICAN citizens abide by the Constitution (even when our govt frequently doesn't), and it says that the guy with the most electoral votes is President. That's Barry. Get used to it, or get out of it. And there's only one way to do that.

Some of Barry's stated policies, alarm me, and I think they will greatly harm the country if he does what he says. But that doesn't change the fact that HE IS PRESIDENT OF THE U.S.

The only way he can "not be your president", is if you're not an American.

It's your choice.

Liberals have a habit of clapping their hands over their ears, squeezing their eyes shut, and reciting loudly, "LA LA LA LA LA IT'S NOT SO IT'S NOT SO I CAN'T HEAR YOU LA LA LA LA LA....." Especially when something happens they don't like but can't disprove, which is frequently.

First time in a while I've seen a conservative do it, though.

I completely agree with the assessment original post. But on the flip side:

I will not pretend President Obama is a genius or even more intelligent than President Bush was. There is no evidence to suggest that. Unless some is actually provided I reserve the right criticize anyone who does.

I will not pretend President Obama is the Lord God Almighty. He is a man. get over it.

I will continue to work my butt off to pay my bills because President Obama isnt going to suddenly take care of all that.

I am not going to cut my brain out to be agreeable with people who are wrong.

In other words, Im just going to continue being me.

Hmmm...... I guess I have never really had a president! Mr. Reagan was close! My president wouold be a Libertarian, n one other will do! It is like the standard we set for our family. I've heard people say, well, he's my son or she'd my daughter, I have to love them. WRONG!!!!

Ut-Oh... here he goes again!

We chose our peresident collectively, yes, democratically, yes, and in accordance with the rule of law, all yes, yes , yes! Barack Obama is the countries collective president, he isn't mine. I sort of like the guy personally, I admire his accomplishment and I wish him well, certainly, but he is not MY president. Neither was George Bush. I liked him too! He was most gracious his last days, held steadfast to his belief in God's guidance and his morals. He was not MY president! A Libertarian would be MY president but I will always remain an American even though I will not see a Libertarian president in my lifetime! I will continue to live my life under the fantasy that maybe one day the country and foundation beliefs I have will be one day redeemed by a liberty loving, responsibility respecting philosophy in our country. A day when all people are truely equal. A time when Americans can travel whereever they want and not be questioned for routine purposes, their bank accounts won't be camped out on to see if there is something else that can be taken from them so as to supply it to someone who will in turn vote for a sect of political power that will further infringe on the liberties of folks. I'll continue3 to dream of a day when a person's soveriegn citizenship will assure them a guarentee that their property cannot be taken from them by government for some bull shit common good. I'll keep on believing that somehow if I resist to sell out like most of my friends to some philosophy that it's better to vote in numbers to combat the leftist ideaology that sparks socialism, in as well I'll continue to give personal time to help others, money if I have it, after personally able, by my own decision, and I'll continue to think that the soldiers who spit their blood on this land envisioned a country a little more in line with what I think than the government and our country's people ... today... think!

Yup... I like Barack Obama, I liked George Bush, I even liked Bill Clinton, he was charming at times, intelligent and I think for the most part, meant well as did Bush I and Mr. Carter. I liked em all. None of them were my president though! My president will be a Libertarian and NOTHING else! I will not (as the title suggests) settle for less. I am not willing to trade the lives of our dead soldiers, our ancestors and my dignity to sell it to someone who represents as much of my platform as they are "able" to get by in the political infrastructure. My president will set a precedent for excellence, no compromise interpretation of the United States Constitution. He will believe that we are all resposible for ourselves and our families, he will believe not in handouts by government, because something taken without permisson is not given at all. It is stolen! My president will understand that the problems of the world won't go away just because he is the president but will address those issues in a sensible way that spurs others to believe when they see how well his philosophy works. My president won't have to gulp when he says the words "non-partisan". He or she let me add won't be interested in ruling anything, he will never use the word "power".

My president will be a Libertarian. A true American. He will embody the very essence of what it was that brought all the people to this copuntry in the first place. The chance to get aheasd in a land that is fruitful. He will think of the skeletonized buildings that line the highways of small towns in our country where true American entrepeneurs once operated businesses. Free market won't just be a term he uses when it is politically required to get a vote from someone. He won't sign anything into law that allows one's control over another's right to choose any and all aspects of their personal lives. Anything less is what we've watched culminate into the shit we have now. My president won't give long winded speeches trying to sell his ideas to anyone, he'll practices what he says everyday by staying the hell out of my business and doing his best to maintain a system that continues to do that. Nope, my president won't give me a damn thing that he has to take from someone else. He will subscribe to a philosophy that it wouldn't do me any good to make my way for me, I would lose my way and forget how to do it for myself. He will remind me that
it isn't government's place to do those things. It is government's job to provide only the basic services to the people such as management of infrastructure, building roads using private contractors, providing services using private companies and ensuring a free market enterprise exists and is NEVER compromised of fooled with government in ANY WAY EVER! My president will know the obvious, he will know that whewn government intrudes further than this it fucks up everything it touches. He will watch over the spending of government and have great ability to veto anything that is represenative of an entitlement. He will see a flat tax system work very effectively, minus an IRS that will no longer exist. Businesses will collect taxes on a flat rate basis on all services, goods and so forth. It will be equal to everyone! My president will be sworn to it by the law.

My president will watch as the last of the oldies feud and argue their opinions that we have screwed up America by enabling everyone to be equal. He will be entertained by the idea that they will have no choice to go along because the American people have now seen what they really craved. Freedom!!!! He will watch as new small businesses grow up everywhere. He will watch as a completely unregulated businesses rolls itself along creating an enviorment where the strongest most dedicated will survive and others will fail. The ones who fail will see the strong do well however and they will try agin in hopes of doing better, knowing of course that they must because no one will bail them out if they fail. We will become better. Oh sure... some will holler and bitch.... and hopefully leave for more common good societies where it is easier to sponge off society and will leave behind the failed society who once thought it could be controlled by government. Businesses will move back to America because they will know that unions will no longer destory their workforces and run costs through the roof. Insurance companies will no longer be able to charge staggering rates to commercial companies because of the competition for customers. No bail outs!!!! Government will no longer be able to write blank checks to politicians home states based on how influencial they are in the cathouse or on the golf course because it won't work that way. States will have more say in their own structure of government and law. Those faced with unfair burdens may succed causing all to realize to noone can force anyoine to do anything they do not want to do!

My president won't wish to give or take a thing from me or to me! I want it that way! I'll continue to want it that way and will never change my mind about it! My forefathers wanted it that way, we fought for it, we died for it, it worked better, it was better and I want it! My president will want it too or he won't be MY president!

So... you folks go ahead and continue to call it fanciful wishing. Keep telling me I can't have this. Go ahead and continue to settle for the system you have now! Getting better by the day huh? Yup! Our current system is doing great, no need for change...... right? You are just about a citizen of a Socialist country and yet you refuse to stand up for what you know is right and truely what you believe to. It's too complicated, it's not possible, we're too far into it, we can't rectify it, it won't work, my vote will be wasted (your vote was wasted if you lost and your voice didn't get heard), your view is too radical Emmett, we can't do it, it can't be done that way, I've heard it all! I hear it everyday, [people coming up with all the reasons why we can't instead of how we can. That is what got us into the shit we are in now!@!!!!!!!!!

I want a Libertarian president!

VOTE LIBERTARIAN if you want real change!

I think that was the point of the original post, no problem with criticizing, the problem comes in when it gets personal or devolves into name-calling. Things like 'Chimpy', making fun of 'messiah', 'actor playing president,' etc. Until Obama didn't see too much of the name calling from Republicans, though they did a good job of claiming Clinton had no right to be in office.

I really found the avatars of anti-Bush offensive, demeaning for the presidency. I think it's wrong, I have the right to my opinion. I know some figure it's payback, reminded of the adage, two wrongs to not make a right.

Now criticizing policies, appointments, decisions, all fair game.
