I've long been an advocate of calling all this extra money what it is....a handout, welfare, even calling it a "gift". To call it a tax rebate is a slap in the face of all of us who give and do not "receive".

Some Republicans are not ready to embrace Obama’s stimulus, claiming the tax cuts need to be bigger and targeted differently.

“We believe tax cuts should be given to the people who pay taxes, because he’s talking about tax rebates for people who don’t really pay taxes. So in effect, they would be getting a check from the government, but it would be more of a welfare check, so whatever they get is a gift or handout from the government,” Rep. Dan Burton (Ind.), one of the founders of the conservative Republican Study Committee (RSC), said.

Democrats, however, have disputed Burton’s characterizations of Obama’s proposed tax cuts.

Members of the RSC intend to submit stimulus legislation by the end of the week.

How about giving money to Mexicans and let them come over the border and spend, spend, spend..since spending is all that is needed to make our economy good again.

Save the the damned checks just stop collecting, want to send a check send it to the states that stop state tax for the same year.

When you give handouts to the poor, they become "poor people with money", nothing else.

That is until they make it to the casinos, beer stores, lottery tickets and drug dealers, then they are no longer poor people with money, but poor people with welfare again.
