red states rule

Another great idea by the left to pass the problem off to someone else - and the taxpayer is paying the bill
HONOLULU -- A state lawmaker wants the state to buy some homeless people airplane tickets so they can fly back to their home states on the mainland.
State Rep. Rida Cabanilla said she plans to ask for $100,000 this legislative session for the program.
A recent University of Hawaii survey found 19 percent of some 4,400 adults in homeless shelters statewide had been in Hawaii for a year or less.
About three-quarters are U.S. citizens, most presumably from the mainland.
Critics contend the proposal is a ploy to ship homeless people elsewhere, instead of dealing with the problem.
Cabanilla said the program would send people back to places where they may have family or established links with service providers.
She said no one would be pressured to leave.
