drove around the area today, took a back canyon road that has some good vistas, rained out though, but rounding the corner got us quite a good laugh....apparently it is WWF cowtime

cow fight

the cow on the left (in picture below) actually broke up the fight and herded them off the road...the guy in the red truck rolled down his window as we passed and we had a good laugh over the cow fight

There is a book called Noah's Ark by Rien Poortvielt that is easily one of the finest books I have ever experienced. Rien, who is a master painter, was interested in the story as a child and grew up thinking about it. It is written so well and the illustrations are gorgeous oil paintings that captures the personalities of animals better than I have ever seen. He writes in a very humorous but also stimulating way, a great book to read with kids. He speaks about GOD as a designer of all of the different animals and the illustrations he shows in that section are amazing.

What I am getting at is a 2 page spread where he talks about cows, about driving down the road and saying those are just cows. No he argues, they aren't just cows, they are perfect cows. He then illustrate how different cows would look if the utters were in front, or if they had a rooster's red comb on their heads, or if their body was like a giant snake......... he argues his original point with illustrations and proves it, cows are perfect as they are.
