British Army snipers call it 'the Silent Assassin' and it is the weapon the Taliban fear the most.

It is the British-made L115A3 Long Range Rifle which, in recent weeks, has killed scores of enemy fighters in Afghanistan.

In a new initiative on the front line, the Army is using sniper platoons to target the Taliban and 'The Long', as the snipers call it, can take out insurgents from a mile away.

The skill that must go into using that is amazing, to hit a target at a mile away. Good show :)

I would love to see what the results of a shot like that are. The exit of the round must take out every internal organ.:clap::clap: Don't need to take what's left of those pricks to Gitmo........:laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

A sweet piece that. Be great for hunting pronghorns. Unlike a Barrett M107, the .338 wouldn't tear up so much meat.

Which is more accurate, that or the 50 caliber?

That all depends on who pulls the trigger, to a degree anyway.

That all depends on who pulls the trigger, to a degree anyway. I recall a video of US snipers killing terrorists from something like two miles away.

is it all relative after a mile or could we see like 10 mile away sniping?

There's a practical limit to hand-fired ballistics. Even artillery is only good for, like, 16 miles or so.
