Alabama Sen. Questions Obama's CitizenshipSen. Richard Shelby says he's skeptical about President Obama's status as a U.S. citizen

Alabama Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL) questioned President Barack Obama's U.S. citizenship Saturday, saying that he hasn't "seen the birth certificate" of the commander-in-chief.

Shelby told patrons during his annual speech at a Cullman County, Ala., restaurant that he wasn't sure Obama had been born on U.S. soil, the Cullman Times reported.

"Well, his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven't seen any birth certificate," Shelby said at the All Steak Restaurant as he spoke about his opposition of Obama's stimulus plan.

"You have to be born in America to be president," he said.

Shelby isn't the first politician to question Obama's birthplace -- former Senate opponent Alan Keyes sued the state of California in 2008 to attempt to stop them from giving Obama their electoral votes until Obama produced proof that he was indeed born in the United States.

Obama's campaign has released a copy of the 44th president's birth certificate, marked with his Aug. 13, 1961 date of birth and Honolulu birthplace.

Medical records and and a birth announcement in a Honolulu newspaper also prove Obama's location of birth, the Cullman Times reported.

A long list of crackpots and crazies that are tilting at windmills. Of course, if they want to die on that hill, let 'em. It'll keep 'em outta the way of the grown-ups.

hawaii law. obama could say: make my BC public....it is public. until he does, it is private. that is what is so laughable about his "electronic" public bc....it would take him less time to tell HI to make a copy and make it public....

but he is hiding his original BC.....that is a FACT

I don't know where you get such an idea. I don't think Obama lied about anything. I think that, if there were any substance at all to this silly birth certificate nonsense, the courts would have dealt with it appropriately. At some point, when the "smears" are of such minuscule magnitude, it really is prudent to simply let the folks wearing the tinfoil hats just believe whatever it is that they chose to believe.

Clearly, this is such an instance.

your ignorance is expected....democrats have also questioned his citizenship, but your blind partisan glasses cause you to ignore that...

and i did not say he was not a citizen if you were referring to me. obama lied that he would fight the smears. such silliness could be shut down by simply providing a copy of the original. mccain did.

he addressed this "smear" on the webpage you produced. That is all he really needed to do....I personally think he should not have even done that much.

If he weren't a native born american, the chief justice of the supremes would not have let him take the oath...pure and simple.

but DO keep making an issue of this....it only serves to make every other post you make on every other thread tainted by this idiocy.

your definition of the "truth" is not the only one

and as I said, I cannot believe that Chief Justice Roberts would EVER give the oath of office to someone he was not completely certain was eligible to take it...
so we have the chief justice of the supreme court on one side and we have YOU on the other.

you know...the way the camera angles were on the day of the inauguration, I MISSED seeing the person holding a gun to the Judge's head forcing him to give the oath of office to Obama against his will. For you to suggest that Judge Roberts did not have a CHOICE is anti-American.:poke:

True or not, if Obama wants to unify this country he should open all his school records and tell Hawaii to produce the birth certificate to the media. Instead of spending a million dollars fighting these issues. He could give that money to the poor UAW people who have been soooooo abused by the big 3 automakers or some other charitable organization.

Again... I think that he has already done a pretty good job "unifying" the country...and I sincerely doubt that, even if he DID do exactly what the band of tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorists wanted him to, they would then become part of that "unification".

I sincerely doubt that if they produced a certified copy of his birth certificate today that they would be believed anyway. I can tell you that at this point in the game there would be doubt in my mind as to the authenticity of such a document. Based upon the power he now wields and his refusal to produce earlier.

So, this supposed copy shows a modern computer generated type font rather than typewriter copy. It also says the father's race is African, why is the mothers race caucasian rather than North American. Are Australian people part of the Australian race? How about people from Antartica, do they fill out the race line as Antartican? What a joke. I doubt that in 1961, any form would have African as a race. Black or Negroid would probably be closer to what would have been the selection. Besides, he gave up his American citizenship, if he ever had one, when he became an Indonesian citizen. His Kenyan grandmother is obviously a liar also since she has said that not only has she never been out of Kenya, she was present at Hussein's birth. :laugh2::laugh2::laugh2:

Soldier doubts eligibility, defies president's orders
'As an officer, my sworn oath to support and defend our Constitution requires this'

A U.S. soldier on active duty in Iraq has called President Obama an "impostor" in a statement in which he affirmed plans to join as plaintiff in a challenge to Obama's eligibility to be commander in chief.

The statement was publicized by California attorney Orly Taitz who, along with her Defend Our Freedom Foundation, is working on a series of legal cases seeking to uncover Obama's birth records and other documents that would reveal whether he meets the requirements of the U.S. Constitution.

"As an active-duty officer in the United States Army, I have grave concerns about the constitutional eligibility of Barack Hussein Obama to hold the office of president of the United States," wrote Scott Easterling in a "to-whom-it-may-concern" letter.

Obama "has absolutely refused to provide to the American public his original birth certificate, as well as other documents which may prove or disprove his eligibility," Easterling wrote. "In fact, he has fought every attempt made by concerned citizens in their effort to force him to do so."

Taitz told WND she had advised Easterling to obtain legal counsel before making any statements regarding the commander-in-chief, but he insisted on moving forward. His contention is that as an active member of the U.S. military, he is required to follow orders from a sitting president, and he needs – on pain of court-martial – to know that Obama is eligible.

Where's the proof Barack Obama was born in the U.S. or that he fulfills the "natural-born American" clause in the Constitution? If you still want to see it, join more than 250,000 others and sign up now!

Taitz said other legal cases questioning Obama's eligibility filed by members of the military mostly have included retired officers, and courts several times have ruled they don't have standing to issue their challenge.

Easterling, however, is subject to enemy fire and certainly would have a reason to need to know the legitimacy of his orders, she argued.

"Until Mr. Obama releases a 'vault copy' of his original birth certificate for public review, I will consider him neither my Commander in Chief nor my President, but rather, a usurper to the Office – an impostor," his statement said.
