Pitchfork Time By Patrick J. Buchanan

Any wonder native-born Californians are fleeing the Golden Land?

In his campaign and inaugural address, Barack Obama cast himself as a moderate man seeking common ground with conservatives.

Yet, his budget calls for the radical restructuring of the U.S. economy, a sweeping redistribution of power and wealth to government and Democratic constituencies. It is a declaration of war on the Right.

The real Obama has stood up, and lived up to his ranking as the most left-wing member of the United States Senate.

Barack has no mandate for this. He was even behind McCain when the decisive event that gave him the presidency occurred—the September collapse of Lehman Brothers and the market crash.

Republicans are under no obligation to render bipartisan support to this statist coup d’etat. For what is going down is a leftist power grab that is anathema to their principles and philosophy.

Where the U.S. government usually consumes 21 percent of gross domestic product, this Obama budget spends 28 percent in 2009 and runs a deficit of $1.75 trillion, or 12.7 percent of GDP. That is four times the largest deficit of George W. Bush and twice as large a share of the economy as any deficit run since World War II.

Add that 28 percent of GDP spent by the U.S. government to the 12 percent spent by states, counties and cities, and government will consume 40 percent of the economy in 2009.

We are not “headed down the road to socialism.” We are there.

Wow 28% of GDP. What will the government do if there's a war to be fought? We're screwed.

The WAR is at yer doorstep and mine too, along with Main Street, coast to coast. It's a sad day for America.

Once we reach socialism we are..........one step away from communism. And then we're where the people of China are.

Any philosophy that is based on the premise of each according to his ability to each according to his need is based upon failure.

People are not stupid, although sometimes politicians may treat us that way. Eventually people will revolt, or will find that it is easier to do nothing than it is to struggle to succeed.

Ayn Rand in Atlas Shrugged showed us the ultimate nightmare if we were to allow socialism to succeed. Why work hard when the government will pay you for not working?

Any philosophy that is based on the premise of each according to his ability to each according to his need is based upon failure. It seems to work great in the case of Social Security, Medicare and Rural Electrification.

Eventually people will find that it is easier to do nothing than it is to struggle to succeed. Don't project your lack of ambition onto others.

Ayn Rand in Atlas Shrugged showed us the ultimate nightmare if we were to allow socialism to succeed. Social Security has been a great socialist success and I don't see where it resulted in the ultimate nightmare.

Why work hard when the government will pay you for not working? Show me the law that says the government will pay me for not working?

It seems to work great in the case of Social Security, Medicare and Rural Electrification.

Which is, of course, why Social security is on the verge of collapse and why both Social security and medicare are always needing to be "reformed".

No clue what Rural electriciation is, but I am willing to make a wager that based on your other two citations, its not as you are portraying it.

Don't project your lack of ambition onto others.

It has nothing to do with ambition. Its impossible to be ambition when you've taken away all benefit of being ambitious. What's the point of working your butt off to build up a company, if the government takes away all you work for to give it to others?

If you eliminate the consequences of being ambitious, then it is human nature that people will be less ambitious.

Social Security has been a great socialist success and I don't see where it resulted in the ultimate nightmare.

Hello. Im from Earth, where are you from?

Show me the law that says the government will pay me for not working?

Its called Welfare, Social Security, Medicare, etc.

Which is, of course, why Social security is on the verge of collapse... The Social Security Program hasn't missed a payment since the program was established. I say that's a great success.

Social security and medicare are always needing to be "reformed".
The free market didn't provide retirement income and health care for the elderly. Socialism did.

No clue what Rural Electrification is, but I am willing to make a wager that based on your other two citations, its not as you are portraying it. It was a Socialistic program that brought electricity to rural America when the free market failed to do so.

Its called WelfareShow me the Welfare Program law that says the government will pay me for not working? Then tell me how much I will get paid for not working?

Its called Welfare, Social Security, Medicare, etc.

90% of the House Republicans voted to expand Socialism in the United States when they voted to pass the "Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act" in 2003 which greatly expanded the Socialist Program known as Medicare.
