on Leno.

It hasn't aired here, yet. I have no intention of watching it when it does.

According to Jake Tapper, Obama managed to offend the differently abled on leno's show tonight.

Towards the end of his approximately 40-minute appearance, the president talked about how he's gotten better at bowling and has been practicing in the White House bowling alley.

He bowled a 129, the president said.

"That's very good, Mr. President," Leno said sarcastically.

It's "like the Special Olympics or something," the president said.

When asked about the remark, the White House said the president did not intend to offend. (http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2009/03/president-ob-15.html)

There are not enough O's in smooth. No wonder he travels with a teleprompter.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - The top bowler for the Special Olympics looks forward to meeting President Barack Obama in an alley.

"He bowled a 129. I bowl a 300. I could beat that score easily," Michigan's Kolan McConiughey (KO-lahn Mc-KAHNA-he) told The Associated Press in an interview Friday.

The athletic-minded president made an offhand remark Thursday on "The Tonight Show" comparing his weak bowling to "the Special Olympics or something." He quickly apologized and told the Special Olympics chairman he wants to have some of its athletes visit the White House to bowl or play basketball.

McConiughey, who is mentally disabled, is just the bowler for the job. He's bowled five perfect games since 2005.

The 35-year-old McConiughey has been bowling since he was 8 or 9. His advice for Obama? Practice every day.

my brother was in special olympics and was on a special bowling team. obama's comments are despicable, crude and arrogant. his apology is worthless. his true feelings and beliefs about handicap people came through loud and clear with his insults. he is an elitist, simple and plain.

his comments hurt my mother, she couldn't believe a US president would make such insulting comments. and she is a dem.

Imagine how fast a democrat would be on here screaming if a Republican would have said something like Obama told Leno yesterday.

The President compared his bowling skills (which also suck) as being like the Special Olympics!

What a cowardly thing to say! Make fun of handicapped individuals. Has anyone seen this story on NBC? How about any of the other wings of the US Government News Agency? CBS perhaps? I don't think so! Certainly no coverage of it!

Yeah I know... I don't usually grab onto such things as a story like this however this really pisses me off. What an insensative statement!

Well at least he apologized! Oops...no he didn't. My bad. He had a couple of his cronies do it for him!

How bout it Liberals! Was this a tacky thing to do or what? I bet you guys are proud of your man today huh?

I've seen lots of criticism for this remark, most of it by 'liberals' who are angry that people aren't taking it as it was meant, self-deprecating humor. Perhaps it was a slip of the tongue?

On the other hand, the reaction of those castigating the 'offended responses' are those that would not cut one break for the previous administration. To argue the level of stupidity is really a non-starter. President Obama has demonstrated a quick learning curve on spending money, as well as foot-in-mouth and by his actions, (private insurance for vets, both the type and style of gift to Gordon Brown). Is this the measure of IQ? Is this really the 'hope and change' you were all looking for? "Your guy was more dumb than mine!" Says a lot about you if it were.

Perhaps he was viewing que cards from this guy; My take on this is that Liberals like "retiredman" and Obama claim to be compassionate, but this latest gaffe shows us the true disdain for those that they claim to champion. Just like Liberals use "gay" as an insult.
