It seems that it is not only the Republican Governors who are having problems with the stimulus bill, but other governors as well. Many want to use funds to better serve their state in the ways they feel would best serve their state interests.

See Story (http://money.cnn.com/2009/03/20/news/economy/stimulus_waivers/index.htm?postversion=2009032005)

As an Alaskan I commend Governor Palin for what she wants to do with the monies. She sees beyond the immediate time to the future. What happens when states raise their compenstation for programs like education, unemployment, Medicaid and aid to families with the monies from the bailout, and when those monies stop coming from the federal government and are left on the backs of the states. Are states going to cut funding, raise taxes, or cut other programs to keep the increases established by this bailout in place?

No one can complain that she is not taking money, for she is taking money that is directed at infrastructure, which will provide many jobs in Alaska, as too will the pipeline if we can ever get it started. Now all we need is to drill in ANWR and the situation will be much better.
