A great video refresher on what makes the USA way of Government (as it was originally designed) to be as unique and kick-ass as it is:

I can remember Al Gore chanting during his presidential campaign "what's at stake here is our democracy" during one of his get-out-the-vote efforts

Great video, often times we forget that we are a Republic and not a democracy. We have a constitution that limits the powers of the federal government, and granting to the states and ultimately the people the power to limit the government. God I hope that one day we all remember this, but it seems that we are too eager to continue to vote for those politicians that given the most to us the people.

Our forefathers would roll over in their graves and vomit if they knew what we had done to the Republic!

Since gov't is gaining more and more control and things are escalating, I don't even want to think about where we will end up within the next 20 years. Heck, with all the nuclear bombs around the world at the ready, we could all end up in one big pile of nuclear dust.:blowup:

And we are headed straight for that New World Order that has been in the making for ions. Yippy!

Our forefathers would roll over in their graves and vomit if they knew what we had done to the Republic! The founding fathers wanted a Socialist Republic where Congress had the power to lay and collect taxes to pay the debts and provide for the General Welfare of the United States.

Too bad that even one of our former VP's doesn't know his own form of Government:

"....because without a press able to report "without fear or favor" our democracy will disappear....."

I don't even think they teach in schools that we are a REPUBLIC anymore...and you ever notice, all the Democrats in government always refer to us as a democracy..why do you think that is.?

The concept of "socialism" did not exist at the time. What the founding fathers wanted was a republican (small 'r') form of government that protected the rights of its citizens.

Tax is primarily used for the stabilization of capitalism.

The founding fathers wanted a Socialist Republic where Congress had the power to lay and collect taxes to pay the debts and provide for the General Welfare of the United States. You seem to be really ready to post stuff based on opinion and little more. The founders gave congress the power to tax primarily to repay debt owed by the government for the revolution. I'll bet you a case of beer of your choice that you cannot point out one social program directed at citizens under your definition of General Welfare provided by the founders... Providing for the general welfare were evident only in strong national defense, foreign policy activities, canals and waterway management... all federal government activities were void of compassion until the twentieth century when liberals re-defined General Welfare... compassion belonged to the family, church and community and not in government... Please provide some examples of Socialist Republic activities in the 18th and 19th centuries?

Thomas Jefferson Was A Socialist

"Taxes should be proportioned to what may be annually spared by the individual." --Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, 1784.

"Another means of silently lessening the inequality of property is to exempt all from taxation below a certain point, and to tax the higher portions of property in geometrical progression as they rise." --Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, 1785.

"Our revenues liberated by the discharge of the public debt, and its surplus applied to canals, roads, schools, etc., the farmer will see his government supported, his children educated, and the face of his country made a paradise by the contributions of the rich alone, without his being called on to spend a cent from his earnings." --Thomas Jefferson to Thaddeus Kosciusko, 1811.
