Two zebra's were seized from a Georgia owner because of a lack of permits intended to protect animals from being cared for poorly. End result: both put down

The news item above only tells the basic facts, but the story I heard on the radio today was that the agents who seized the zebra's didn't bother to learn how to ship them safely, thus they were so injured during transit they had to be put down.

The owner says Georgia law doesn't require permits for equines, and doesn't distinguish between breeds such as mule or donkey. Zebra thus could possibly qualify.

But legal arguments aside, the owner offered to transport them himself to the zoo but was denied, thus resulting in their unnecessary deaths at the hands of the "helpful" government.

Very similar to when the DNR seized a bunch of turtles to "protect" them from an owner and several hundred ended up dying then too.

Kinda reminds me of those wonderful folks at PETA that are so eager to remind people that hunting and fishing are abuse, only to find out that they themselves are dumping a hundred of dogs in dumpsters.

Hard to believe that this is the same government that people want taking over healthcare.
