I wonder if this guy will be shocked long after the Obama Presidency and Rush is still around?

And who would ask anyone with Air America about the success of talk radio? :laugh2:

snip

Arguably no message apparatus like it exists in the nation, except, perhaps, at the White House (or in Oprah—whose position with American women is curiously analogous to Rush’s position with American conservatives). It is concentrated and extraordinary power.

Except that this power ought to be ending. It ought to all be on the wane. It is not just the Obama victory and the magnitude of his approval ratings. It is not just that the gravity of the economic crisis, with historic unemployment rates, means it’s a lot harder to get people excited about Reagan-and-Rush-esque hands-off government.

It is, rather, a crueler demographic point. The dirty little secret of conservative talk radio is that the average age of listeners is 67 and rising, according to [former Air America guru Jon] Sinton—the Fox News audience, likewise, is in its mid-60s: "What sort of continuing power do you have as your audience strokes out?"

The article also goes on to state that:

To this point, Air America has been kept afloat thanks to deep-pocketed liberals willing to accept massive losses because they believe in the company’s mission.

So tell me, how long before Air America is in Washington requesting a bail out.

Armitron, the radio ratings has Air America with a 1.4 share, Rush Limbaugh alone has a 6.0 share. Hmm you tell me are you going to believe the dribble of a station that gets 1% of the listeners???? Limbaugh alone outperforms every Air America program.

Which is why Dems want the Fairness Doctrine. If they can't compete in the open market and have people decide to listen to their liberal talk shows, they will have the government force them to listen to their liberal shows

Air America Radio Host Mugged, Liberals Blame Conservatives

October 16, 2007 - 11:15 ET

If something bad happens to a liberal anywhere on the face of the planet, should it be assumed a conservative is responsible?

Such appears to be the case according to the blog Talking Radio, which on Tuesday reported the unfortunate mugging of Air America Radio host Randi Rhodes in New York City Sunday evening.

*****Update: The Daily News is reporting that Rhodes wasn't mugged (details at end of post, h/t NBer Gat New York).

In true Joy Behar fashion, the piece, after giving some details of the attack along with Rhodes’s apparent injuries, quickly addressed the possibility that the event was indeed political, and somehow connected to Hillary Clintons vast rightwing conspiracy

A police source said Rhodes never filed a report and never claimed to be the victim of a mugging. Cops from Manhattan's 17th Precinct called her attorney, who told them Rhodes was not a victim of a crime, the source said.

Rhodes' lawyer told the Daily News she was injured in a fall while walking her dog. He said she's not sure what happened, and only knows that she fell down and is in a lot of pain. The lawyer said Rhodes expects to be back on the air Thursday. He stressed there is no indication she was targeted or that she was the victim of a "hate crime."

Randi Rhodes: Ed Schultz Received Startup Money From Senate Democrats
By P.J. Gladnick (Bio | Archive)
April 7, 2009 - 23:26 ET

Many liberals claim that Rush Limbaugh was bought and paid for by the Republican party. Not true especially since they couldn't afford him.

However, what is true according to a source is that the new veracity-challenged MSNBC host, Ed Schultz, received cold cash from the Senate Democrats in order to launch a national radio show in an effort to counter Limbaugh.

And who made this assertion? Some conservative antagonistic to self-professed liberal Schultz?

Nope. This claim was made by leftwing former radio host Randi Rhodes.
